Does Scarlet Witch fly?

Her powers can allow her to levitate small distances, but not straight up fly.

Also, can we please just accept they aren't going to do Wanda's probability altering powers? It just doesn't make sense. There's nothing wrong with simplifying it.

Says who? It's not that hard to explain. Her powers allow her to cause the usually improbable to happen. Not that difficult. They just need to establish rules or limits to not make the audience think, "Well why didn't she just zap it away or something?"

Yeah they were younger than the other Avengers when they were first introduced. They were around the original X-Men's age at the time.

well, instead of probability altering, they could just simplify it to chaos/reality altering.

which would include [BLACKOUT]telekinesis[/BLACKOUT] or any number of things, since technically, that WOULD be altering reality with those powers.

and reality altering could be a "scientific substitute" for magic.

isn't magic essentially the power to alter reality?? :cwink:

Then we'll get into how they tie magic into the universe with Doctor Strange. I watched that Hulk cartoon this morning with special guest star Strange and he said magic is basically a form of science. :o

There's also another obvious reason for them NOT to do probability-altering powers, besides it being kind of confusing. That kind of power just wouldn't film well. Her using actual magic would just look better/cooler onscreen and lead to more possibilities. And since Wanda's powers have shifted so much in the comics over the years, people couldn't even complain that it isn't accurate to the comics, because it is.

well, haven't they been saying that since Thor?

and recently, didn't a Marvel exec basically say that all the quantum physics stuff we're exploring now in the real world is essentially "magic."

so, in the Marvel cinematic universe, magic is basically tapping into quantum physics, allowing the wielder to "alter reality."

and tying Wanda's powers and story into a Dr. Strange movie would be a great idea.

^Yeah, but until Strange is introduced who will be able to explain that, I don't think even Banner would be able to explain it.

Maybe Thor, being that it's more of something he's seen before?

Thor can probably comment on it, with Banner chiming in that Wanda's powers are beyond his knowledge.

but, honestly, does it really need much explanation?

as you said, a much deeper explanation of "magic" can be saved for a Dr. Strange movie.

I think they will do it, and just call it "warping reality". Especially after seeing the [BLACKOUT]mid-credit scene[/BLACKOUT].

If I had to make a wild guess, I'd say Wanda's power level will be in roughly the same tier as Iron Man. Not as powerful as the big guys ( Hulk, Thor ), but above the humans and near humans. She'll probably come off as weaker due to being more fragile, though.

Seeing as how they continually change and alter the meaning of her powers in the comics I would say it's hard to explain.

I'm wowed by the beauty of EO and the hotness she has eventhought she has that meh costume (hope it's not her final suit)

Man, her facial expressions are unnerving even in those pics. "Mentally unstable" Wanda here we come.

I think we all knew that girl in high school that dressed like that. Or you probably are or were that girl.

How so? Not real familiar with her history.

I would say because Byrne was the one who started making her mentally unstable which is a theme bendis continued with house of m.

I like mentally unstable wanda. It's an actresses dream to show that descent and it's why I find her more interesting than a lot of magic users in the MCU (yes including strange)

And they have the perfect excuse to do that mental stability issue without it being some fundamental element in her makeup (which a lot of Wanda fans hate):
Strucker and HYDRA have been experimented on the Twins, and those experiments are implied to be really nasty. You could just say that her mental stability issues are a result of the horrific ordeal that she and her brother have gone through.
Also, I think it'd be a nice nod to the comics if either Hawkeye or Cap bring up Wanda's attractiveness at some point in the movie.

What I get from Scarlet Witch is she's like the MCU version of Carrie (one of my fav films, note: the DePalma film not the remake) which is awesome. Im sure her powers like telekinesis will be heightened much more of course.

She's like RRH to me and Vision is like Pinocchio I like comparing Marvel characters with Fairy Tales characters.

Or Scarlet and her brother are like Hansel and Gretel.

I hope Cap doesn't.... it wouldn't feel right.
