well who ever lands the role i hope they have the best qualities of the character and will have the screen presence and all.
It's utterly ridiculous no matter what character it is. Real-world nationality has absolutely NO bearing on the film role. I've no clue why people can't detach the fact that movies are fiction, and so are its inhabitants. The notion that the actor who portrays Superman needing to be American is, well, stupid. With Captain America, yes, that actor needed be American and have the all american look to him.
Sam Worthington doesn't exactly fit the expectations for an Aussie. He's only like 5' 10, and when people think of Australians they think of guys who are like 6 feet or taller.
Hell no.
I was thinking Eric Bana.![]()
see, normally the nationality of the actor wouldn't be a problem, but Superman is such an icon of the American Dream that I think you need to cast American. As much as I love Cavill's look, and the fact that he's a good actor too, I have a hard time accepting him as Superman because he's a brit. Superman was a light of hope and encouragement during the depression, his costume features 3 of our nation's colors, he is often pictured in front of an American flag, and hell, does he not say repeatedly that he is here to fight for "Truth, Justice, and the AMERICAN way?!" I think that it's a pretty bad idea to cast someone who isn't American in this particular role.
I think Donald Glover should play Superman.
Supes doesn't need to be played by an American...but he does need to sound like one. I have found that there are far more British actors that can sound believably American than there are American actors that can sound believably British.

This truth, justice, and the American way nonsense element of the character really needs to just stop![]()
