i've never considered this Joe Manganiello dude before....but looking at him, im totally not opposed. he looks better than most suggestions i've seen around here. im not familiar with his acting though.

A few months ago he was on EW magazine?? and I thought Hmmm...Who is this guy he might work for Superman. Then I'm surprised to find out he is Flash from the first Spider-Man movie. He has changed quite a lot. My only reservation is that his nose can sometimes look kind of prominent. Beyond that he is a pretty damn good choice.

Yes!!

Great news imo if proven true :)

He's not good.

Sure he isn't. :whatever:

On the other hand he is a Carnegie Mellon graduate with a degree in ACTING.

It is a VERY common occurrence here that if someone does not like an actor, they quickly jump on the "cannot act" thing. – its an excuse, they don’t like someone for some OTHER reason, and yet state "he cannot act".

Generally it is because the actor in question is not their first choice, so they feel a need to cut down every other actor mentioned. Especially if it seems like they would have a real shot.

I have seen nothing showing Joe Manganiello to lack acting talent.

I wouldn't get to up and down on this just yet. Just says he is a front runner. Remember when Logan Lerman was a front runner for the new Spider-Man.

Let's say Joe is actually the front runner, he's still a young dude who is in his early 30s. By no means does he look like a fresh-out-of-college guy trying to discover the world, you know? He has more of an established look.

Sure ;) the tweet say that the our say that is a fronrunner not the one. Now if he a Logan Lerman, i don't know if he is one at all:woot:

Can't wait to know who are THE frontrunners :)

I'd be alright with Joe. kinda figured he was in the mix, but i'm surprised that he's ahead of Hammer ( if true)

i could buy that he travelled some years abroad a la Birthright.

I'd say that Hammer was also a frontrunner, but that's just my assessment of the situation.

side note..whether someone likes joe m or not, you gotta hand it to the guy for going after the role..he said months ago he wanted it.

I could see Porter and Hammer going by what we heard, yes.

He must really be wowing the powers that be if he is the frontrunner..

I know we all have our own opinions and we're fully entitled to them, but to say Joe is a bad actor is just making up excuses really. He's been in many TV shows and other features and I've never heard any critics - or people with knowledge of what constitutes a good actor - say anything negative about him. In fact, he's been very popular in True Blood to the point where he'll have a bigger role next season, and has played the role very convincingly.

Anyway ........... asides from his nose (which isn't even a dealbreaker for me) I consider him pretty much physically perfect for the role. He's 6"5, has a brilliant physique, and very importantly, he looks more mature and more rugged than some of the typical Superboy choices thrown in. This is more SuperMAN.

He's also a self-confessed Superman fan, and hugely eager to get the role - he's stated so before.

The nose is the only issue really. For some people, it's just the way it looks. For me, my only issue is that it looks like it's been broken before ............... and why the hell would Superman ever have had a broken nose?

In saying that though, if Joe is as eager to get the role as he says, a routine nose job wouldn't be out of the question.

That is something to consider.

But while Hollywood has mostly been good with casting these roles, the last two major castings, Chris Evans as Captain America and Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, scream lazy desperate casting looking for someone who they knew could bring in an audience and be OK in the role.

Of course, Evans ended up now appearing to be perfect for the role and I'm confident Reynolds will deliver, although it's obvious they want him to play the typical Reynolds type in order to recreate RDJ's success as Tony Stark.

I just hope that Superman is getting better treatment.

No to Joe M. He looks like an ape. He is totally wrong for Supes. After watching all 4 seasons of Madmen, imo John Hamm is the perfect superman, his presence, acting skills, good looking without looking like a pretty boy. But the acting is the most important thing and he is great. That's something all this kids have been mentioned here lack, all of them:Joe M. , Cavill, Hammer, Routh, Cudmore and specially Welling. This time we need a superMAn not a superBOy.

Joe was one of my favorite parts of this most recent season of True Blood, so I'd be perfectly happy if he got the part. And he plays the part of the noble gentle giant perfectly, imo, so he's already got that in his favor as well.

As do I.

One thing in Joe's favour in regards to wowing them in an audition is that physically he's already camera ready for the part.
No doubt. He looks by far, to me, in being the closest to what I think superman should be built like, and judging from what i've seen in some images of his he can hide those muscles in normal clothes fairly easily. the nose is not a deal breaker and can be easily fixed if needed.
As for the other posters fears in his acting ability, he wouldnt have gotten this far in the process if he couldn't act.
