Yup, Manganiello looks his age, but let's remind ourself that Bale was 30 ish when he did, and he looked his age too imo, but they found a way to make look a little younger for part of the movie.

Judging from goyer's intro to superman secret origins, I'm betting there will be an origin. In some way or another.

Yup, i assume that they are going to try to break from the STM structure, but that they will have some kind of origin, even a brief one.

Huge supporter of Joe Manganiello but actors like Armie Hammer top him talent-wise so i'm open to a lot of actors.
But Joe is a perfect fit physically, and in terms of his interest in the role. He's a comic book fan through and through.

Here's a manip i did a while back (not the fan art thread i know but relevant).
Nothing special but I was so sick of seeing people paste heads onto an already fantastic looking body and suit, that doesn't get us anywhere.
Tom Cruise's head on The Rock's body also looks like a great candidate.

So this manip is 100% Joe Manganiello. His clean shaven face from one pic and his body from late last year with some simple colour work and costume.

I have to say that simple manip really makes the sale for Joe. Look at that jawline.

Joe's biggest problem with his nose is, that as all of us age, our faces worst features seem to take over, think how Welling's prominent nose overshadows his face. I think that with Joe, the same may happen. If you think his nose is large now, in three years it will take over his entire face.

Joe is not a bad choice, he just isn't a great choice, in my opinion. But who knows(nose) he could work.

As much as Bailey is my pick for the role... I don't think they'll take a look at him. Could be wrong though. Add Padalecki, Crawford and Cassidy there. Possibly Vogel too.

In all seriousness... the nose may be bothering but not nearly as bothering as a stiff actor like Routh was. The little I've seen of Joe M was in Spidey and it wasn't precisely good (but then again I despise that enormously overrated POS film).

i can believe Padalecki being looked at, possibly Vogel, but not Crawford and Cassidy. I know that we heard that the cap contenders could be looked at, but i can't believe that thos guys could. could be wrong of course.

I don't see it either. Joe's looks are all wrong. I agree, I like that he doesn't have a boyish look, he's big and muscular, thats all great. But I just don't see anything Superman in that face.

I won't die if he's cast. Maybe he's good enough actor to make me think he looks like Superman. I don't know. But at this point, I just can't get on board.
