Fanboys and their need to compare everything :P

I watched this today and my oh my did I enjoy this movie. Don't think I can add too much to what has been said already but the characters, story, action, effects all worked well for me.

Yeah some of the action scenes were not very long but I felt they were sufficient for the situation they were in. The way this movie starts off is so action packed it really didn't matter to me what was coming next.

A really great start to this jam packed summer, and a nice addition to the great movies Marvel have made so far.

Can't wait for Cap and The Avengers now

8/10

Still at 94% on RT with 52 reviews. RT may not be the be-all end-all for critic's consensuses but that's still really damned cool to see regardless.

Thor certainly has set the bar high for every summer film to follow. Here's hoping that First Class and Cap can match or even exceed greatness!!!!

Definitely is. I think the general consensus is that the film is no oscar-winner,

I hate it when people say this. As someone who has seen every single Best Picture Oscar winner I can happily state that most of them are appalling. Only 13 are deserved winners. The rest are an utter waste of time. Thor is BETTER than most Oscar winners. As are most super hero movies.

One of the few complaints I have is that they showed the good stuff way too early. IMO, the Destroyer and Loki fights just couldn't keep up with the Frost Giant action.

Exactly this in regards to the few action scenes there are. I just as much as anyone know that action doesn't define a film, but even Thor's switch to becoming honorable felt a bit quick. I wanted more self realization of humility with this.

Everyone is complaining about those final fights, but to be honest, I thought they were perfect. You get a long, epic battle with the frost giants that alone is more action than IM 2 had.

This is hyperbole surely? It didn't feel that long to me. Also the action in IM2, while short, was overall better. But that is neither here nor there.

Anyway, I want to see this again (In 2D this time).

I also wish it would have taken a bit longer. They could have shot like montages of him spending years on earth, before even meeting Jane Foster.

How long would you guys say the final fight was? Longer than Iron Man vs. Whiplash?

I'd say it was only slightly longer. At least there's some emotion invested in the Thor vs. Loki fight.

Yeah, like maybe over the course of a year, or at least half a year. The whole movie felt like it transpired in three days. Way too quick for the many revelations going on in this movie.

I think the incredible Hulk did it well by making clear that Bruce Banner had been on the run for a while. They should have definitely tried to do something similar with Thor.

Finally saw it, I really liked it, the trailers and the 5 minute preview we saw last year definitely doesn't show the goods. I was expecting something as terrible as Elektra, but ended with a very cool movie. Are there any confirmed deleted scenes?

IM 2 had better action scenes than Thor? I'm sorry but I just can't believe that considering all the things I've heard about Thor's action scenes.

I really don't want the question of who's more powerful settled in the film, that's for sure. That's one that should remain open to interpretation forever.

Well it doesn't seem like it, because Hulk ALWAYS comes out on top in recent animated films and tv shows.

It's not a big deal though, because I've accepted the fact that Marvel isn't going to show Thor defeating Hulk outside of the comics anytime soon .

No. I get your point about the Oscars, but no.

"You blood over your actions would unleash..."

What does that monster say in the trailer, cause it sounds like that.

The only thing that "Thor" has that's better than anything IM2 is Robert Downey Jr who's one of the few able to make jokes work in superhero movies. But nothing else in IM2 is better than in Thor. SPECIALLY the action.

I think you guys are extending your disappointment/hatred of IM2 to the action sequences, which again, while short, were fantastic. Some of the action in Thor felt "choppy" in places. It was still pretty cool, overall.

I would agree. Some great moves and composition, especially the drone fight, which could've easily gone south with all the clutter (like another certain summer blockbuster featuring robots), but Libatique kept it clean and comprehensible. Most of all, it was fun as hell to watch. And being fair, there was definitely more action in the second than the first so I don't know what the ostracizing is all about there.

I hated the droid fight. IMO the only think worthwhile out of that arcade game-style shootout was Stark's 'Hammerroid attack' comment, which I still laugh at after my 4th viewing :)

Quite a scary challenge to try please us all; I think every film has done well to be as successful as they have been so far!

I saw this last night and I have to say this is my favourite Marvel movie so far. Chris Hemsworth just became a huge star.

fanastic movie - 8/10

I only had one problem with this movie and that is thor's character change from arrogant thug to noble warrior is too quick, I would have liked to have seen a slower progression, it's the same problem with dent in TDK (from dent to two face), the change is so fast you have a hard time buying it. other than that great movie.

actually two more problems
1. the score
I guess the days of the memorable theme (superman, star wars, jaw etc) is over.
the score services the movie but it doesn't stay with you and I'm honestly having a hard time remembering it at all two days after seeing the movie.

2. 3D
not needed at all. my advice, if you can see it in 2D then see it in 2D because the 3D doesn't add anything and in a lot of case the dimming down of the image makes it hard to make some scenes out.

bottom line: thor great movie and neck and neck with the first iron man as marvel studios' best movie.

No? No what??????? I don't really understand

And to those on about Thor's transition from arrogant God to Hero:

Loki visits Thor when Thor is in Coulson's custody and tells him that Odin is dead due to Thor's actions. I don't know about you but something like that is likely to change a persons persona rather quickly, just out of guilt if nothing else

Fixed

Is that what you meant EP?
