The Official 'Thor Rate & Review' thread - Part 1

So I'm back from watching Thor 3D and it was okay, but not as great I hoped. So I would say I'm a bit dissapointed. First of all, everything was rushed. Characters, events and places were introduced quickly and there was nobody you would care all that much about, because who are these people anyway and what is at stake here? Like Fandral, he must be the jolly swashbuckler, because he laughs when his cutting down the frosties. That's all.
And the much talked about (in interviews) father/sons dynamics. Nothing juicy came out of it. Because again, things had to move forward quickly. No time to have any emotional investment. Just raising through the scenes. So asgardians need a good king? We don't even see any asgardians, except the elite that is Thor and his friends. Sigh.
And the thunder and lightning I was hoping to see in the promotional material, well there wasn't much of that in the movie either. The actors were good, but I think Tom Hiddelston was the weakest, perhaps because of the weak script. Not that the warriors three had it any better. I really blame everything on the need to get through the scenes fast. This movie should have been at least three hours long with more character development and maybe greater battle scenes showing more of Thor's mighty powers. The use of Mjolnir was good though , it was cool to see Thor wave and spin it like in the comics. The flying was also nice. But all and all this movie is unworthy to be THE Thor movie I was waiting for. It was simply too rushed. If I had to rank the marvel movies here's how they go now:

1. Iron Man
2. The Incredible Hulk
3. Iron Man 2
4. Thor

This movie failed to capture the epicness that is Thor, god of thunder. I find it sad to say that this, to me, is almost forgetable movie.

Geez dude, I think you're being a little too hard on the movie, it sounds like you were expecting way too much from a 114 mintue film.

Sounds like fanboy expectations if you ask me. He says he wished it was 3 hours long. Most movies don't need to be that long unless it's trying to be fan wank in regards to comic films.

Badass movie, i thoroughly enjoyed it even though i've never been interested in the character. A better movie than IM2 for sure, but i think i liked IM1 more.

Btw, being a Thor noob i gotta ask: Why is it that only Thor can fly?
Also, what is his relation to the his teammates? I think i missed that. I mean are they friends, simblings, etc.

I forgot to mention:

DAT SIF.

Isnt she supposed to be a lover of Thor? She was just a friend here. In any case i repeat:

DAT CUTE SIF.

Thor flies with the help of Mjolnir, Earle.
Sif and the Warriors Three are his friends, but they are like brothers to him.
It's great that you enjoyed it, btw.:yay:

^ Thanks a lot for the info mate!

Btw did anyone else feel like it didnt take long for Thor to fall in love with Portman's character and "change" so that he'd become the man that would offer himself for her salvation? It felt kinda short to me.

Oh, one more question: How is the movie doing in the Box Office? I hope its going well.

He has Mjolnir. He doesn't really fly so much as the hammer pulls him.

They're his Badass Crew.

Kind of agree withh you here.
The movie is doing pretty good at the international box office. It's already at more than 116M U$.

It's slowly going down on RT. I hope it doesn't go below 80%

For one i don't think Jane and Thor are in love infatuated yes ,but hey when she's the one, she's the one. Stranger things have happened to people in real life which doesn't make it too far of a stretch. Second the sequence of events where he couldn't lift the hammer then Loki telling him his father's death was a direct result of his actions, and that his mother never wants him to come home must of felt like a punch to the gut.The bigger question people should be asking is will this new humble Thor last.

The streak of negative reviews just ended at 3 with another positive added.
