The majority of people ARE really dumb, so that is to be expected.
I agree.
But this particular Fast5 crowd were mostly 25 and up professionals. Not dumb suburban teens/preteens. We were laughing at the acting and marveling at the car action.

We knew it would be dumb, but ultimately I found it to be a way more entertaining 'summer' film than Thor.

was that olivier coipel that thor walked by and he looked at him after the sif and simonson scene?

I seriously can't believe I just read a review on Rotten Tomatoes that openly exclaims "This isn't the Dark Knight" ......:doh::doh::doh:

People are brainwashed.

I know, I corrected myself .... it was moreso by process of elimination. Remember they said they came to get him and he remarked something how he can't go back and things he was responsible for. That's when Sif responded, that his father is still alive.

yea that's more how I remember it.
either way their main purpose being was it was, they made for one lame action sequence. It could have gone the same way if thors mother showed up.

It shows more the material oriented culture to me. Hot women, nice cars, explosions, fights. Its a standard summer action recipe. Nothing wrong with that. I honestly would expect more people to like F5. I enjoyed it as well.

I'm just a MUCH bigger comic/mythology fan so I liked Thor tremendously.

That film is overrated.

I remember reading how thor has handled in the Ultimates and how even readers questioned if he really was the thor or some guy with cool tech. This film did play with the concept a bit, but quickly decided not to.

I do think it would have been a pretty cool idea to play the film as a mad man walking around talking like he's thor. The ending would have been all the more glorious.

Still gonna disagree. They were a plot moving device and their most important scene was going to Earth, otherwise Thor would've never realized the truth in what had been unfolding.

Oh.my.god.

I'm really tired of that film. Seriously. I find it to be very overrated, tbh.

I enjoyed TDK, but on the flip side I do hate that it's become such a focal point in Hollywood when referring to comic book films. If it ain't TDK, it's not as good.

The only think NOT overrated about it is Heath Ledger. His performance was spectacular IMO. Take him out and its a very mediocre movie.

I think many equate his Joker with the overall movie. I see it as more that he was great in it.

And yet for as overrated as you people find it, it is being discussed in a Thor review thread. Nolan obviously did something right :oldrazz:

You can't escape him.

Nolan made a good film, the fans ruined it by bringing it up in areas that don't concern it.

We are discussing it here because it was mentioned on RT in a Thor review.

Nolan DID do something right. Cast Heath Ledger. :oldrazz:

Everything else was average to good. :woot:

Well we'll all see how he does without heath come next year, i'm very interested my self. That being said, he did fine with inception and that didn't have heath.

As for Thor, I wonder what heath would have done with the loki material...

Take your pic from the rest of the cast for Laufey...and I mean anyone from the rest of the cast. :o

Maybe Nolan should have directed this film, after all he's already directing The Man Of Steel, even though Zack Snyder is, because Nolan is magic and can be in two places at once.

How about garbage then? :D

I don't agree, but it'd make a nice change. :cwink:

Whether TDK is overrated (a subjective term as it is) is basically irrelevant now - rightly or wrongly it has created a benchmark in many critics' minds and unless they see something much better that benchmark will be there for a while. The film that could really adversely affect, of course, is TDKR.

This!

I'm more excited about the Marvel films coming out next year than I am TDKR.

I care more about a movie like Thor because it attempts to capture my imagination. Nolan's TDK doesn't do that for me. In fact it restricts it.

Or Superman, which Nolan is neither writing or directing yet the fans act as though he's directly responsible for it.

Unless the fans don't like what they hear, in which case it's all Snyder.
