The Official Tom Welling for Superman Campaign Thread!!!

lol yea the monkey thing emi and her husband have idea for is a bit silly but the petition for a better superman film(reboot) is a good idea and yea if it does get alot of sigs they might look at it.

There is nothing wrong with petitions, they have been known to work on many levels. I just don't think WB is going to be that happy being told to run their company with stuffed monkeys but you never know.

But then again with an online petition you have to take into account how many names are the same people just using a different name which then make the petition itself not valid.

Well yea but i dont know how some of the petitions have it set up to count sigs and all that.

You actually need to use your email address and then it sends a confirmation email. So unless you have alike a 100 emails, you can't really sign all that many times.

Well, from what Showtime has posted in another thread and this apparent approach of Reitman to direct, it looks like the wheels are turning and things are happening behind the scenes, but we're just not hearing about them.....

yea hopefully things are moving with the project but we still dont really know if the reitman thing was a recent development with wb looking for new directors to replace miller or if it was before miller was picked. A source for emi and her husband steve did mention a few weeks ago that as a plan b they were looking for other directors to take over if miller is fired/drops the film and it moves out of Oz but u can take that as u want true or false. The biggest issue with this whole project is the lack of any official word from WB.

thats understood but keep in mind you don't need a valid e-mail to sign I signed many under a false e-mail in fact I can sign yours under a false e-mail watch.

See what I mean I just signed it under the name Just say No To Tom Welling with a false e-mail address of [email protected] and it posted. Thats why I say it really doesn't mean anything because it can all come from the same person.

Hey, come on. Please don't post things like that on the petition.

I get it you disagree. Allow us to give it a try. If we fail, we failed. Ce la vie....

:whatever:

No name calling. He was just trying to prove a point.

Anyway, it is a name on the petition. :csad:

My question is to you guys is even if you guys want Welling as Superman what makes you think he would want to play Superman in a movie? I mean he has played the role of Young Clark Kent for 8 years now what makes you think he would want to play the role of Superman for 8 more years? Better yet what makes you think he will want to have anything to do with Superman once SV is done? I mean I like Welling and would love to see him in the suit but at the same time I think the guy might also be tired of the role. Because you can make a petition all you want the problem is does the actor want the same thing you want. To be honest once SV is done I see Welling becoming like Terri Hatcher where he will do anything he can to distance himself from Superman and like Hatcher be thankful that SV gave him his start but really will not talk about it or have anything to do with it.

I agree. 7 yrs. of play Clark Kent surely has to make him tired of playing him & Superman some more, thus making it been 10 yrs. since he played Supes. I think he will get tired of it & focus on other roles for his career. Not to mention JL's Supes is not from Smallville & SR. Why should Welling be in the role if it not the same he play? It silly to have him play a role that isn't from SV, since it not Routh's Supes either.

I think you'll see Welling in the suit as Smallville draws to a close. I think the petition is a nice idea, but you really need a good amount of signatures on there for it to work any kind of magic. I don't think sending monkees to WB is only going to make them think they should do a King Kong movie.

Yep. Some need to know that signing the petition are only from the minorities. The majorities don't care about it & just want to see a film. That is basically what WB would listen to.

Yea welling would be much better then all the crap names we have heard for the film. He is one of my top choices but i know there is other and more likely better actors out there. But cotrona he is not superman material.

The latest are from back in December 2007 when the rumour mill was at high gear. It is said that the part was offered to TW but was unable to take it due to Al Gough.

Why would Al Gough have anything to do with Welling's business decisions...?

I thin it's called power and control. He could and he did.

Who knows if he was.

Off course he did. There were multiple sources out of the set saying they had a huge fall out and one particular saying that it wasn't the only movie TW lost the part because of Gough. There were at least 2 more he had to turn down because Gough would not allow him to do them.

I didn't see it reported on any of the major websites at all?

I only remember Jayne and IESB I think?

Yea i heard that too i was just saying we dont really know for sure if he was stoping him from films(jla/supes/other). I do remember hearing from other places not emi or rob about bad tension between cast, gough/miller and the networks but i dont know for sure about any of it.

There has been a lot of talk from crew members that there were fights and tension but no-one ever said the reason, or maybe knew the reason.

Yea so the cast and crew probably going to have a breath of fresh air with gough and miller gone from season 8.

First of all, I really commend you for being one of the few Welling fans I've come across with who is not a raving lunatic. With that said, I really don't think he should play Superman in anything outside the Tube. I find him a wooden actor who is not able to command a strong screen presence and I just can't buy him as Superman.

:up: Word. IMO, I think he is ok on his show, he does have a boyish look and I think that's one of the reasons he was cast. But I just can't see him as Superman, his facial features are too femenine, his is too "pretty" if you know what I mean. And his voice is too weak for Superman. He just doesn't inhabit the character IMO.

No kidding. Welling has exactly one expression; I'd describe it as "mild distress." No matter what the scene calls for--happiness, anger, sadness--Welling is always just mildly distressed.

Not that Smallville would be greatly improved by good acting. Maybe a mass firing of all the writers...

Yeah, and the writing in Smallville is mostly bad, and that doesn't help much for him to show what he can really do? Maybe.. but then again, just look at the other films he is done...that tells you something.. Maybe he needs to choose his roles better in the future.

I don't understand why you would want someone who can barely play a convincing Clark Kent after six seasons of SMALLVILLE to take on the role of Superman. Will never understand that.

Me neither. To each his/her own. I don't think he can carry the franchise on the big screen.

Besides, if WB really wanted to cast him as Superman for the movies, they'd have done it a looong time ago.

Yeah but that is just speculation.

They just replaced 2 showrunners with 4. That's a lot of people in a position for a job that one person can do.
