$160 million - $25 million (tax breaks) = $135 million dollar production budget

Ah right, is that the official budget then? If so, I can see FC getting more than that domestically with this weeks numbers and if they hold.

I hope this weekend it gets 150-160M in the foreign market.

GOOD INTERNATIONAL NEWS!!

- In two weeks, First Class has already surpassed Wolverine boxoffice in at least 4 countries!

_________ FIRST CLASS - WOLVERINE

SINGAPORE: $3,289,228 - $2,559,609
MALAYSIA: $2,826,804 - $2,322,754 (even better than X3!!)
PHILIPPINES: $2,970,699 - $2,049,825
TAIWAN: $2,583,460 - $1,062,118

* And its getting closer to Wolverine gross in Rusia, South Corea, New Zealand, Mexico, Argentina...

are or arent great news??

Superb news!! And it's great to see that Mexico is contributing to that :)

totally agreed. And Id say even more:

A First Class sequel could get much more than X2 worldwide.

It would be great if that happened. And each time that I think about X2 it is beyond me how other movies like Transformers and Pirates sequels did more at the BO than X2

Although the bad word of mouth of Green Lantern is spreading, I don't think it's going to steal from much of the box office numbers or improve the gross for X-Men First Class by any significant measure.

What it'll more likely do is create a huge drop for Green Lantern for next week if anything...

It's interesting how not many people seem surprised by the bad reviews for Green Lantern. Most people thought it didn't look the greatest to begin with...The CG never bothered me, but everything else about it did. It looked like another Fantastic Four-style of production and structure.

Yes, what GL has to its favor is the novelty factor which would result in a decent weekend BO. And yes, most probably would have a big drop next week. I just hope that XFC BO is not affected much by the new releases.

It would be great.

And they have yet to own any of the X-Movies. So X4 would be their chance!

Are you serious?!!? Berry hogged a lot of screentime, what do you mean she never owned any of the X films? I will be severly disappointed if either one of them returns considering how bad they were in those films.

:whatever: Some say too much.

Some say not enough.

She may have hogged a lot of screen time (only in X3), but to date the Storm character has not had a single relevant plot point in any of the movies. It's a shame that neither director (nor the writers) cared for her character properly.

I'm starting to think it might actually come close! But I feel it won't make it all the way. It's hard to imagine an X-Men movie having legs to get it past a 3x total B.O. to opening multiplier. Wolverine's total adjusted for inflation will end up higher in the end anyways.

I agree with you there, my main issue is that I never liked Halle Berry in the role. So I wouldn't mind if they gave Storm more to do...so long as they recast.

Another thing that annoyed the living hell out of me was how everytime she used her powers they had to do that pointless closeup of her eyes turning white. Yeah...you don't need to keep doing it after you show us the first time.

What's funny is that in hindsight I liked Halle in X1 the most when she was actually trying the accent. She was ok in X2, but Storm does not say "gonna" and "have ta shake 'em". Shows how little Singer cared about Storm (I like him, but that's my biggest complaint).

But back to box office, Halle and Hugh are draws. It pains me to think that they could have been making an X4 this whole time since Halle hasn't really been working and Hugh made the "movie" Real Steel. Halle's paycheck in other movies would be less now that she has been on hiatus, but she could get her full asking price for X4. Same with Hugh. The others would also be able to ask for a little more since they're off contract. I wouldn't really be able to say how much the general public would want X4. They'd be awfully confused as to why XM:FC came out in between.

A friend of mine that does not follow the comics but so far has liked a lot most of the X-men movies replied that he would like to see both an XFC sequel and an X4 when I asked him about it. He doesn't feel confused by XFC and actually commended the director and writers that they explained a lot of things that he ignored.

Ultimately he rather see an X4 because he's curious about the where abouts of some of the characters of the original cast, esp Prof X.

My friends kind of fall on two sides. More of them are the types that love everything X-Men, but some see it as just another franchise that makes them think "another movie?". It's hard to figure out which side represents the general audience more, but I'm guessing the latter. My friends tend to be more like me in terms of demographic and the general audience is more like "yay Transformers!". I'm not trying to sound snobby... it's just kind of true.

Well, I think one or a small group of ppl opinions do not reflect a demographic, but I found it interesting that there is some ppl that still want to see an X3 follow up.

I am of the opinion that they should build to a revamped series through a trilogy of First Class films.

Not some, but alot.

Message Boards and comic shops aka "The Community" are usually the source of the majority of hate for X3. Most regular movie-goers that like action movies and the X-Men lure as a film franchise (the GA) enjoyed X3 a great deal. My wife loved it and still asks me why people hate it so much. I usually tell her its because they killed Cyclops and she always looks at me like

In the comic book community everything's upside down. They love Cyclops and hate Wolverine :awesome: oh yeah, and Return of The Jedi is a bad movie.

True, I guess most of the hate for X3 comes from comic book readers that have been X-men followers for years. But I can understand quite well their explanations for despising it. My biggest complaint about X3 was why sort of killing many key characters knowing that they had lots of potential for future sequels ala Harry Potter

Out of topic, I liked ROTJ, but less Ewoks would be have been better :)

You're right that the regular movie goer's opinion on X3 is a little bit brighter, but I would say not by much. The rapid box office fall would attest to that. I know it's redundant to say "most of my friends..." but I can honestly say that I've never heard anyone say anything particularly good about the movie. I was in denial when I first watched the movie and recommended it to my brother (who doesn't know much about the X-Men outside of the movies), and he was so mad at me afterward.

Yeah, not really.

Personally don't see where they could go with an X4 from where they left off that can be all that satisfying. You need the leader of the X-men, a proper version of him.

With these new films they have a chance to build to that.

Actually, the GA could care less who that is as long as he has great screen presence and Jackman fits the bill just fine. I'd rather see him on his own, but I won't deem FOX's strategy to make him the center of attention a bad one. It pretty much built the franchise.

I don't even want an X4. I want a sequel to First Class.

You should have told her it's because it's just a bad movie from a technical standpoint.

In case they decide for an X4 if they manage to find plausible explanations to bring back the stellar characters like Prof X, Jean, and Cyclops I will forgive them for what they did hehe.

Just checked Boxofficemojo and still no numbers up for Wednesday. I'm curious as to if it dropped much, especially since it actually went up on Tuesday from Monday's numbers.
