It's already said they signed the cast for multiple films.

However I think discussion on Sequel should wait till word comes out from Fox or one of hte Producers there will be a first Class sequel.

So around $10 - $12 million in total this week + overseas numbers.

It did on Monday the Best case sceniro. It has decent shot domestivly of through friday
getting to 125 Million and another 6 Million over the weekend which would bring It up
to 131 Million.I will feel better ons equel chances If It passes both the Hulk and The
Incredible Hulk.

Well, I saw Green Lantern the other day, and while its no were near as good as FC, its also no were near as bad as the critics say, but its BO performance has been horrible so far, to me, thats only a good thing for FC as GL is looking like it'll drop quickly.

I found Green Lantern entertaining in a colourful, visual, silly way. But it's a real backward step after the Nolan films showed a thoughtful, purposeful approach to superheroes. If you start thinking about how Nolan would have done Green Lantern, you'll get upset! We wouldn't just have been plunged into an alien world, it would have more purposeful and realistic...

Definately agree with all of this, the flaws were inherent, but for some reason I still enjoyed it, maybe it was lowered expectations after the reviews, or maybe it was because I was still drunk from the night/morning before, who knows. I enjoyed it in the same way I enjoyed GI Joe, Ghost Rider and the like, silly but somehow fun. But yeah, after the seeing the talent behind the movie, it is a real backward step for WB and especially DC movies in general, god knows were they will go from here, as GL had real potential to be an amazing movie and i'm still scratching my head as to why it wasnt.

Fingers crossed for 150 millions before the end of its run.

Hopefully by Friday it gets to 125m. Since Friday is considered the weekend it will be counted with the weekend totals. Hopefully it increases tomorrow. Every little bit helps. If it could just stabilize for a couple weeks it will make it to 150m. But that's a big if.

When is Transformer 3 and Cars out ? There would be no cinemas left for X-men to play with this.

Cars this weekend. Transformers the next. But those movies have 3d and IMAX showings as well. The good thing is X Men is not in 3D so it won't lose so many theatres. Pirates, Kung Fu Panda, and Hangover 2 will lose theaters too.

I know Fox distributed this movie and their movies overseas. How much will they get from the international box office ? Around half, after splitting with cinemas ?

I wonder if it can beat $147.5M domestic. That's TIH's adjusted domestic gross, BTW.

I expect GL fans would want to be plunged into an alien world though. Realism works for Batman, but I don't see how it could be applied to Lantern.

I think it might have been better without that opening scene with Parallax escaping. Instead, focus on Hal Jordan as a pilot (toning down the goofball comedy a bit) and his discovery of Abin-Sur, the shock of seeing the first extraterrestrial, and being the first human to see an alien, and the first asked to join the Green Lanterns. Those are big moments, they could have been treated more realistically.

Almost all of the other Lanterns were unnecessary as they did nothing, despite assembling on Oa. It went all out on the sc-fi, at the expense of story and character.

I didn't read the reviews but Green Lantern was really terrible! way! And I liked Fantastic Four :o

They were just too many wrong things about that movie!

The average percentage a studio receives is 50-55% of the worldwide take (US + International). So, if it ends at $350 million worldwide, they would effectively have gotten $175-192.5 million dollars. Then, you have to factor in DVD/Blu-ray sales, TV rights, merchandising, etc. At the very least they should break even, with the potential for a sequel to do even better considering the quality of First Class and the fact that it has made the X-franchise relevant again.

So even with 300 million dollars, they would still get only 150 millions. So they have to rely on BD and DVD. Now I'm pessimistic about the sequel !

Don't be pessimistic, just keep spreading the word about the film...

Well they will get most of the domestic take. Theaters get more the longer it shows but for the first few weeks studios keep most of it. That's why they want the biggest opening weekend take possible.

The amount they get from the overseas box office varies from market to market. There is no set number.

Well there's still some question about the tax rebates they said they'd get. If after taxes it only cost them $135-140M then a $300M WW take puts them in the black. But even if it isn't true then a $300M WW take means that DVD only has a $20M shortfall to make up, which is easily do-able.
