I mean, it's still decent business, but I'm sure everyone thinks it would nice to have XMFC stay at #1 two weeks in a row...

2. X-Men: First Class (Fox) Week 2 [3,692 Runs]
Friday $7.4M (-65%), Estimated Weekend $24M, Estimated Cume $98M

I hope the actuals are slightly higher and it manages to have the lowest 2nd weekend drop in the series.

Common Fox, add some of Rio's boxoffice grosses to the movie. :D

In a crowded summer, studios need to be smart. You need to create the need to see the movie months and months before it releases. This results portraits the bad marketing of the movie.(i'm sure this is no surprised for Fox) Several countries dont even noticed an x-men movie was released. I speak for what i see in my own. I'm sad the movie doesnt get what it deserves.

some sources say Friday numbers could be $9-10M...

I hope its more than 7M.

It should cross the $200 million worldwide mark by Monday.

The problem I have with the promotion is that I never saw any trailers or TV spots that really get across how good this movie is.

This is probably my favorite Marvel movie ever and nothing in the previews ever gave the impression it would be this good. It is marketing's job to make people feel like they have to see this movie. Maybe it is just me, but I never got that.

X-Men is doing better where I'm from. The two cinemas are more packed than the one cinema showing Super 8.

Good to learn that the weekend drop won't be too steep. I was disappointed also with the marketing campaign for this film. Here in Mexico the thathre I go to, they put in an awesome large Thor life size cardboard cutout (not sure if the term is correct).

And when I went to see XMFC there was nothing like that inside the multiplex. There was only the X symbol used from the posters sticked on the floor as if it were a mosaic. But I doubt most ppl would notice that. As for Transformers they put a huge cutout at the entrance of theathre which was impressive :s Can't deny that i felt envy hehe.

Marketing campaign is not so good here as well but people flock to the cinemas because of Word of Mouth. Seriously guys, tell all your friends to watch it, and maybe post how awesome it is on facebook. HAHAHA

The thing I don't get with internet fans (mostly) is them badmouthing the film and then saying they'll buy a ticket to another movie and just sneak into an X-men showing, as a supposed protest for Fox. Truly pathetic.

really??

lets hope they buy the ticket of a random movie, not a big production to give it more money and a better final boxoffice.

This reminds me of last year, with vaughn with kick-ass. It didn't flop, but didn't do gangbusters either. Maybe the DVD/BR will make tons?

Ok, this is looking like this year's TIH.

Yeah, that must be why I give every film they make a perfect 10/10. :whatever: Just calling it as I see the numbers. Geez, some of you X-fans really need to lose the chip on your shoulder.

Right now, the numbers DO resemble TIH's quite a bit. The only thing we can hope for is that it just holds on longer than TIH in the top 10 and keeps steadily making small but decent numbers for several weeks, which I think is very possible. It could still have a shot at about $165m domestic, imo.

I just saw the movie and again and I still love it. But the fact is this movie may be getting good word of mouth but that doesn't mean that friends can convince their other friends to see it after the last two films were so poorly recieved. And I don't believe that Super 8 hurt it either because Super8 isn't even opening that large. It's doing well for a movie with a reported 50 million budget though.

The weekday numbers showed that this drop was coming but nobody wanted to pay attention because it's "unfair" that such a good movie is being overlooked. It will book between 23 to 26mil and won't have a terrible drop but thats not good enough to reach Bataman Begins levels as some wanted it to.

I say be happy with the under 60% drop this will have and call it a day.

Deadline says 49% drop. That's pretty great.

I would have stuck around to see it again after seeing Super 8 this morning (which was terrific, btw)...but the movie theater was on fire. :wow:

The 'most viewed' clip on youtube right now is a 10 second First Class clip . I think that's funny.
