I think you have to realize that there is a difference between those saying it is doomed as a "long time fans dream movie for the F4" and doomed "because they think it will be bad acting, bad script, etc"...I don't know of many of the latter on here.
Most fans that are saying it is doomed are just saying that as a solid Fantastic Four 616 adaptation that they have been hoping for, from what they have seen and heard....that idea is doomed at this point. I don't think you need to see a trailer to figure that out.
But isn't that kind of setting yourself up for disappointment?
I've never seen a pure adaptation of any of these characters. Singer's X-men is nothing anywhere near the level of the comics. Same for Spidey and Iron Man.Iron Man, actually adapted the worst aspects of Iron Man(too many freaking suits). Nolan ignored the fantasy of Batman that Burton relished in. Both missed the "Great Detective."
The Winter Soldier was good on it's own merits but as an adaptation of the Winter Soldier storyline it's horrendous (even if you boil it down to it's basic elements).
All the Marvel films use Ultimate Elements (except maybe Thor/GOTG).
I feel like, for those who love 616, using UFF is some kind of way to say 616 can't work. Which I don't think anyone thinks. The first films used most of the iconography of the FF so just like Amazing Spidey(younger May/Ben, scientist father, May and Peter troubled relationship, Electro, OsCorp spider) they used the other universe.
