I am glad that the article also pointed out that Morgan Freeman is returning :woot:

I really don't think so,to me the Batman franchise was on it's deathbed,Nolan performed life saving surgery and came into the project as an edgy young director with cred,he did a great job but i think for many it wouldn't take much to get them on side after where we had been.
Look at the countless INWT stuff we have around here,it would take a massive choice by him for fans to revolt.Of course Katie was gonna get the most hate,i mean christ the rest of tcast was made up of some of the best actors in the world and of course she was on Dawsons which automatically turned ppl on her.

there is a massive time gap between Superman IV and SR plus unlike BB where Nolan brought a new vision to the franchise Singer just spruced up the old one which left many ppl disappointed.

I gotta agree here. look at how many people are saying the batfilms cant be done any other way than nolan's way, saying things like "This wouldnt fit nolan's vision" even though they've been staples in the comics longer than he's been alive. Now, people act like the bat franchise cant survive without bale or nolan, when thats far from the case. Now, people act like because of nolan, Batman is some superrealistic character thats only for mature audiences and niche comic fans. IMO, while I like Nolan's vision, i bet a batman revival couldve made even more money under a different vision.

Based on BB, why wouldn't you trust him?

Because no Batman director's second film is considered better than his first, and in fact their second film is more about them indulging in their own personal choices rather than being faithful to the character

To add to that, I'm guessing Maggie will have read the script and obviously liked it enough to sign on - which, considering her considerable efforts to avoid doing anything commercial, is high praise for TDK indeed.

That's right, from what I hear she's very careful about choosing her roles. She's a real artist, as opposed to a movie star type actress, if you know what I mean. :)

My hope is that the rumoured storyline of Dent saving her from the acid is true

Agreed; I think the re-cast supports that rumor. If Dent's gonna get scarred protecting somebody, it's more powerful if it's an established character; and Rachel would be a colleague of his.

I know none of that proves anything conclusively, but it does fit very very well.

Agreed, i wonder why he blames Batman..if Harvey threw himself in front of the acid to save Ms dawes...perhaps harvey and racheal are an item.

You're right. The way some of these religious nolan worshippers are, there's absolutely nothing Nolan can do that they wouldn't love simply because it was touched by the holy hand of Nolan. Batman TAS is inarguably still to this date the best batman story outside the comics, but it seems like fans have lost their sense of good batman stuff because Nolan's movie was more serious than batman and robin. It was for the firs 2/3 then became a typical lame action movie for the last 1/3... so I personally can't understand all the praising he gets as if he really made a masterpiece. Masterpieces are movies that don't fall into traps of cliche oneliners or have poor performances and silly 5 year-old level logic problems. From my judgement then, no, Nolan has yet to create a batman movie masterpiece.

here's hoping that he's got something special ready for the dark knight.

I'm sorry, but i'm not getting all the 'They look alike' and 'They could be sisters" analysis you guys are making about Maggie and katie..

Looks wise, it's like comparing apples to bananas...

But you know what, some people do the same with Burton. Some say Nolan´s movie "doesn´t look like a Batman movie" cuz it´s not some superstylized gothic thing, and that was Burton´s thing, Gotham looked like a real city for most of Batman´s comics history. Given how many attempts at adapting superheroes end up feeling subpar, I seriously don´t think Nolan´s that easy to replace. The only directors who I´d say in recent years achieved a similar level of success as he did were Raimi with Spider-Man and Singer with X-Men.

In his genre, yes, it can be said that Nolan created a masterpiece. Even masterpieces can have their problems, I wouldn´t say Spider-Man 2 or Superman The Movie are 100% perfect movies, but as superhero movies, they´re among the few very best, and that makes them masterpieces. (I´m not even sure I should bother replying to someone with a login name that screams "I´m a troll!" as much as I_hate_u_all, but...)

Maggie is a good actress, but look wise, I wouldn't tap that with a stick.

Yeah. she looks like her brother jake, with a wig. :o

Can we please get over her looks? Why is everyone banging on about it all the time? Her character is an assistant DA, not a beauty queen. Looks don't come into it.

some of you guys are awfully shallow about all this.

Maggie looks the part more than Katie. I can see her being a tough ADA. Holmes, it's a bit of a stretch.

Here's the deal with the looks thing, this is an action/adventure movie, these types of films often have a hottie female love interest, now in this case Maggie is an acquired taste, not as universal as say Rachel Weisz in the Mummy movies or Megan Fox in the upcoming Transformers movies or indeed Jessica Alba in the FF films.

so some guys are wishing since there is only one female character that she was a bit more eye candy and her being a ADA really has little to do with it as pointed out earlier.

As long as we try to keep our views on her looks diplomatic

Exactly. Bottom line is that she is a better actress than the brainwashed underwhelming Holmes.
