The Dark Knight The Rachel Dawes thread

A lot of people in my theater cheered when she died. Some (including myself) clapped. It was a great moment for this franchise.

It was Dent. We never got to see Rachael's body. Prolly coz she got blown to a million pieces.

Maggie did ok, but this wasn't a difficult role. It didn't require an impressive performance. A lot of it felt somewhat mailed in, and could have been, really. She just didn't have much to work with.

I was kind of surprised to see that she died, but it tied in to the story better than I could have imagined.

Okay.
So I saw TDK yesterday and I think Maggie's performance was a disappointment. Ive seen Maggie in films, Ive seen Katie in films...Maggie is by far the better actress but I felt that in this film she was of the same quality as Katie Holmes. There was little to no imporvement on the acting.

Oh yeah and I didn't expect her to die. I don't hang around Bat boards so I didn't really know anything about this films. But I thought it was great that they went for it.

The girl sitting behind me the second time I saw the movie kept calling Rachel a **** haha

Hmmm I don't know why you all like Maggie I thought she was a bit bland. The only part that was good and sad was when she gave the letter to Alfred because you could tell she knew it was coming, she knew she was going to die eventually.

But other than that I'll be honest I didn't care when she died and usually I get emotional when main charecters die but I didn't see it coming!...I guess thats a good thing right?

I too thought Gallyhaan was weak in the roll. I know she's not a good actress, but I thought it was a mistake to recast the roll without Katie Holmes and it lessened the impact of her fate in the movie.

Did you notice that she was still alive when the paramedics layed her out on the stretcher? Her eyes kinda flickered for a second.

How could that happen if there was no body? And this Rachel was much better than the last, not as annoying. Annoying, but not as much or to the point where you wanted to rip your hair out like the last time.

You know when I first saw BB, I thought the same thing, but when I re-watched it last week, I didn't think it was that bad. I think that my opinion was somewhat biased by the fact that all the stuff surrounding Katie and Tom Cruise was happening that summer. All the obnoxious Tom antics, like nearly strangling Oprah to death, or calling Matt Lauer "glib", all reflected badly on her. Yeah she's married to an A1 nutjob, but it's not her fault for the idiotic way Tom acts.

Either way, I really felt the character lost something in transition. She was the only recast from the first movie, and being that it sticks out like a sore thumb to where you're not thinking about the characters in the film, but thinking about "oh yeah they got rid of her".

It's a bit like, Val Kilmer wasn't that bad of a Bruce Wayne, but considering he was a replacement, it just seemed all out of place.

Katie Holmes was horrible as Rachel Dawes & my opinion of that won't change.

Sounds like she was jealous of her.

Well, it isn't far from the truth...
Wow.....her character is shown to be a friend of Bruce's since childhood, she starts to feel romanticly attracted to him (but it isn't shown or even hinted that they start a sexual relationship), and then about a year after she has stopped seeing Bruce in that way she is shown having a normal boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with a well rerspected gentleman.....and to you she is a ****.

Misogyny....look it up.

What movie were you watching....because that scene was not in TDK.

it's now hitting me how sad it is that Rachel died. :(

Maggie Gyllenhaal > Katie Holmes.

I don't care if anyone think she is ugly, I loved Maggie Gyllenhaal. Great actress.
