I just want Broyles to continue being badass.

I'm shocked Garfield wasn't nominated.

Yeah, me too. But I still have hope for him to be nominated at the Oscars. BFCA and GG noms are still something, but SAG is just...more.

After the SAG noms I think it's safe to say that Firth, Franco, Eisenberg, Bale, Rush, Portman, Bening, Lawrence, Leo and Bonham Carter are 100% Oscar nominees.

7. The Fighter

9. The Kids are All Right
10. Winter's Bone

5. Mila Kunis - Black Swan

I still have no idea who could win for Best Picture. I'd be great if TSN got it.

I think that Garfield is still getting a Supporting nom at the oscars but ofcourse I can't be 100% sure after this as the SAG members vote on the oscars. I'm suprised that they didn't give Network any supporting nods as it has a fantastic supporting cast.

I'm really happy that Winter's Bone continues to get love though, hopefully it gets best actress and best supporting actor nods at the oscars.

I've got the same as you (picks not order) except for Kunis. I think Weaver is in and if Kunis were to make it, it would be at the expense of Steinfeld.

Apparently no one should vote for Toy Story 3 for Best Picture because it will take away workers health care at the Disney hotels.
Don't beleive me? http://www.notoystory3.org/

are you calling the workers there liars??

ive actually been following this story since the dispute started and the workers have a reasonably legit dispute here IMO

Yeesh... dont put words in my mouths. The only problem I have is that if they have such a bad problem, why dont they just unionize and get half of Disney world or wherever they are. The problem I have is that winning an oscar for TS3 has nothing to do with health care at a hotel. Yes you can say that their rights have been violated, but winning an ocsar has nothing to do with losing a job. IMO

no...but success usually indicates that nothing will change within the company, I see the point, granted its a bit sensational but I understand the strategy

I think James Franco will win Best Actor and Natalie Portman get Best Actress, and Melissa Leo over Carter for Best Supporting Actress. Other than that, I think you might be on the mark.

If you asked me who should win, it would be possible that I would pick those actors you mentioned.

I don't see TSN getting both BP and BD...Fincher might get the BD nod, but if that happens, TSN isn't getting BP

Why? If anything, usually whoever gets BD is a good indication of what the BP will be. It's not a certainty or anything, but it leans that way more often than not.

Bale should win. God, I ****ing hope he wins. As much as I loved Garfield in TSN and his talent, Bale's is overdue.

It is. The Best Picture race is the years most boring race of the year because the movie has won almost everything. Fincher too.

****, he should win for this...

I don't know, the oscars love things like the Kings Speech and if The Fighter is a (75mil or more) hit I could easily see it winning best picture.

I just don't see TSN as a lock because the Oscars hate good, hip, youthful, well written and acted films.

It would be awesome to have some genuine surprises. The last few years the award season has gotten progressively more predictable in it's outcome, Oscars sewn up months before hand. I get that Social Network is a fantastic film, one of my faves of the year, but for crying out load it feels like people are just going with the flow in rewarding it. It's actually been a pretty good year in terms of film compared to recent years, I really would have thought there would be more of a spread of accolades amongst 3-4 films.

It should be noted that the critics =/= the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

I'm pretty sure Brokeback Mountain was the critics' favorite for Best Picture. Look how that turned out. Ang Lee got the Best Director award, whereas Best Picture went to Crash. And do I even need to mention Saving Private Ryan and Shakespeare in Love?

The point is, upsets do happen (even if they are rare nowadays). I could easily see the Academy going with The King's Speech over The Social Network, even with TSN cleaning house at the moment.

Having said that, I have seen The Social Network, and I absolutely loved it. But I need to see The King's Speech, Black Swan, True Grit, and The Fighter before I declare it the best movie of the year.
