The Reboot Joker

Farrell is best when he's playing a dope or being directed by Terrence Malick, but I still like him a lot. He probably would have been fine as Batman, if a little boring.

Like I said, not liking the choice was part of my point. Hell, I don't even like it lol.

I just really don't think Snyder will cast an obvious choice like Brody. It's a major character and Brody just isn't inspired enough of a casting choice to really get people talking. WB is going to want to replicate the fervor that Ledger's casting created. They'd be crazy not to. So much free publicity.

Shia's life is like an origin story for a crazy person right now.

Ledger had proven himself as an actor unlike Shia. And really this whole mentality that random choices that make absolutely no sense are somehow better then people who have proven that they can actually act and pull off the character going by their resumes. It's just horrible logic.

Why would WB even want to work with Shia? He's proven himself to be someone who is hard to work with so I think major studios are more likely to avoid the drama queen then someone who is reasonable and easy to work with.

But I'm curious, what exactly in Shia's resume makes you think he'd be a good pick?

I still want to see Jude Law's take on The Joker.

It'd be fitting, as he was more or less cast as Batman in the abandoned BATMAN VS SUPERMAN movie years ago.

Jude Law would be fantastic ad The Joker.

I'd be cool with Jude Law in the role, dude has always been phenomenal.

I'm still also partial to choices like James Franco or Tom Hiddleston, though the latter is highly unlikely to be cast unfortunately.

I never said random choices were better, ever. I actually explained the reasoning in my original post and it had nothing to do with choices being random, but rather unexpected or at least off-putting.

It takes more than an actor having played a psychopath before to make me feel much interest. I just like something a little unconventional to go along with it.

The choices I mentioned aren't all my favorites necessarily, but just choices I could see Snyder making or at least considering, even if they are long shots. Shia is an example of this. I really liked him in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and also in Lawless. He's more talented than people want to credit him for.

But even still, he's not my preferred choice. I don't really have just one. I think Jack Huston would be great, Joel Kinnaman as well. I'd really get behind Ed Norton, just because I want to see that guy make a comeback.

Honestly I just want something closer to the animated versions. Jack and Heath were great in their own regard of course. Bradley Cooper has a face that would work for it, dunno if he has the range.

What a great thread!

Some of the suggestions I liked:

Adrian Brody (duh after I manipped him for a request)
Wilem Dafoe
Tilda Swinden (REALLY unsettlingly creepy)
Sam Rockwell
Jude Law
Joaquin Phoenix

My addition to the list: someone who is familiar to Batman in a round about way:

David Anders

If we are to get a Joker in the MoS-world, save him for the Justice League film and not for Batman v Superman.

I think that's likely, or else save him for the next Batman solo movie. The Joker loses some of his sting when he is set against super-beings who can find him with super-hearing and x-ray vision, before detaining him at light-speed.

Crispin Glover has also been a fan choice for years...I pray they don't look at him

Adrain Brody is an actual decent actor though, to be fair.

Still, Nic Cage or go home!

Glover has maybe had more vocal supporters, but as a realistic obvious choice I think Adrien reigns supreme on this dual.

Adrien Brody is an academy award winner and he's the exact same age as Ben Affleck (41)

He's an obvious choice

Please NO JOKER!! I'm sick to death of Joker. I want to see either a new villain or a villain that hasn't been seen before.

Is this speculation or has it been confirmed that there will be a new Joker in DOJ?

Assuming Batfleck will be in multiple films as well as his own standalones, it is reasonable to conclude a new Joker will happen. I don't think people expect him in DOJ however.
