The showdown that "Should have been"

Ken "Porcupine-boy" Leung was not the same character as Phat though. Although I could understand how one could mistake the thin Phat as Ken Leung, granted the latter looked more Filipino than Chinese.

I don't know how to make this much plainer. When I saw the fat guy, my first instinct was "Hey that's Blob!" When I saw him get thin, I was disappointed.

Now do you understand?

I see. But given that we got Angel, Beast, Callisto, and lots of cameos (Psylocke, Glob Herman, Arclight), I'm glad we didn't get Blob squeezed in there too.

He might have been a better choice than the relatively unknown Quill though, except that would have made two big guys in the Brotherhood (with Juggernaut already there).

Yeah, we don't want that, do we? We already know the dangers of sticking two well known, recognizeable or strong male chars together. We don't want one to eat or squeeze out the other.

Callisto and Psylocker were Callisto and Psylocke in name only. Neither movie characters had anything in common with their namesakes other than gender.

Blob would have been just fine as a random fighting Bro'hooder. Easily could have done him instead of Arm-Regenerator Man or Marrow-Rip-Off Man. I'd have preferred Blob to Juggernaut for sure, though. Juggernaut just... came out all wrong.

And I would've preferred Avalanche instead of Arclight... And Quicksilver instead of CaINO...

Just thinking about this earlier, at least the fight that could/should have been.
What i summed up as to how it should have happened is 2 fold

1. In a dark existence of reality we live, because there was no real challenge to herself, there was no need for Phoenix to manifest her firey bird form, kinda the badpart.

2. Wolverine should have reached Jean and the lines still should have gone "Not for them, for you", Jean at this point should have been truly sinister by replying "Fool" and sending Wolverine yards away by telekentic blast. Storm realizes Logan fails and shocks Jean into the fires behind her, thinking she might have killed her. Until of course Jean comes out of the fire itself and manifests her Phoenix form, to which Storm flies and unleashes every power she has. Being that this is in the realm of what ifs.... Storm gets her powers turned against her by the Phoenix sending her to the ground severely wounded. Short and simple to next line of events Cyclops blast Phoenix to the ground runs up and tells her the story of her best friends as a girl and how Jean can take control of her inner darkness and that Scott will be their for strength, Scott convinces Jean to take back control which she does by apparently committing suicide with blade of fire that peirce her body. In reality she has helped to kill her Dark Persona (ya never know if its trully gone though, x-men lore)
End of the movie should have seen Beast return to be teacher at X-mansion with Jean and Scott.
Additionally Logan decides to take Storm to Africa to her old village where she might reconnect with her damaged abilities. Logan does this also to give Jean and Scott their own time.
Next trilogy of movies is entitled X-Factor focusing on the younger mutants, with advisement from their teachers Jean Hank and Scott. (Had they done it right X4 could have seen a small original 5 montage of them walking or fighting or anything for that matter)

hehe, me like! Reminds me of Matt Gardner's "Phoenix Rising"

Scott: "I don't want to kill you!"
Jean: "You don't have to kill me, I'm good again!"
Scott: "that's a relief"
Jean: [turns back into dark phoenix] SUCKERS!
Scott: "Awww! She tricked me!"

Wow. I've never seen that approach before! It's.... BRILLIANT! Symbolic, effective, and brilliant! Love, trust, and hope wins out in the end!! [applauds]
