Lizard: -snarls- I can see you up there! Spider... ... Woman?!

OFFICE WORKER [off screen]: "Hey! You in the red blue suit! Stop humping our window!"

First of all, you´re taking that caption waaaaay too seriously, which means your assessment of what´s funny has little or no relevance to me.

Second, I´m more than okay with serious, and there´s far more seriousness in Raimi´s Spider´Man than his bashers choose to believe. That teaser was pretty much all dark, which is not quite the same thing, and although there are some darker Spider-Man stories, it just doesn´t feel like Spider-Man to me, certainly not the Stan Lee SM or the Roger Stern SM or even the Bendis USM, all of which had a lot of lighthearted fun to them, again a lot more than the Raimi bashers choose to believe. Am I saying the movie will suck? No, I´m saying the teaser feels like that, and that´s not how Spider-Man feels to me, never was, and never will be.

The mechanical webshooters were not a deal breaker for me ten years ago, an they will not begin to be now either. There are aspects of the comics that are very much, but as a fan I am entitled to have preferences and priorities, and they´re not a major one as far as I´m concerned.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but I just thought that was based out of nothing. People have said "Oh, this will just try to ape Nolan's Batman" long before the trailer, which is why it felt like you had already decided even before the trailer that it will be a wannabe Nolan flick.

Also, while my observations aren't fact of course, I must add that I don't see anything that makes this movie look dark to me. To me it looks like a more serious and human take on the characters than in previous films, but not dark.

Oh and btw, you didn't know that when you posted it, as didn't I, but it's been confirmed now that Spidey will wisecrack more than in previous films so I think you can rest assured on that point at least :)

Sorry for being so harsh before btw

LIZARD: Garrrrragh! Whoever took my coat, I will diesssssssssss. I AM NOT THE HULK OR A GENERIC GREEN MONSTER!

DYLAN BAKER: Heh heh. If I can't play the Lizard, than no one shall get the real opportunity.

I can sympathize.

I advise anyone who thinks the movie will be too dark to read the SDCC footage description. This will pretty much be my answer to any of these complaints. Here's a couple excerpts:

-Another scene has a criminal in a car. Spider-man is already sitting in the back.

-The criminal freaks out. "Are you a cop?"

-"Really?!" says Spider-Man, "You think the guy sitting here in red and blue spandex is a cop?"

Outside the car, a guy pulls a knife on Spider-man.

-He falls to his knees, mocking the guy and begging, "A knife?! No, no, no! Please! Not a knife!"

-He webs the guy to a wall, casually, firing webs like its second nature. He shoots one web while mimicking a sneeze.

You can read the full excerpts here: http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/7/22/sdcc-2011-the-amazing-spider-man-panel.html

Granted, I had some of the same concerns as you with the tone after watching the trailer. But the description of the footage put me more at ease.

OFFICE LADY [off screen]: "Mr. Spider-Man, you have a massive erection."
SPIDER-MAN: "What? No! No no no no no no no no! It's the pants you see, they have pleats and, well, you see, the pleats- oh there're a bunch of people watching aren't there? Oh my this is awkward... okay everyone go back to work, just go back to work, nothing more to see here, move along, just move along please... DON'T ACT LIKE YOU'RE NOT IMPRESSED!!!"

Fair enough. I saw the Comic Con coverage and I was happy to see there´s more of Spidey´s humor and wisecracking. But The teaser did feel dark to me, the cinematography, the music, the story, the general tone and feel. Hope the full trailer balances it out with the lighter stuff.

Great stuff, especially the Andrew Garfield speech one.

UNCLE BEN: Huh, you´re not doing that "catch the food on the plate" routine from the first movie all over again, are you? This is a reboot, and it was cheesy the first time around already.

PETER: No sir, I´m not.

BEN: Good to know.

sallyyfirld54.png

UNCLE BEN: What´s with all that, Pete?

PETER´S BRAIN: Don´t tell them you have superpowers. Don´t tell them you have superpowers.

PETER: Meth lab. I´m building a meth lab.

PETER´S BRAIN: D´oh!

Yeah the music kinda gave a dark tone to it but if you ignore that, there's really nothing in the footage itself that makes it look like a "Nolanized" Spider-Man. At least in my opinion.

Peter: Lolz, i just got back from the reboot party. Got this from the Willy Wonka gang, want some? Ahhhh forgot, you're diabetic

Ben: You are such a prick

sallyyfirld54.png

BEN: Peter, have you been smoking pot?

PETER: No, I trespassed into a research lab, got bitten by a radioactive spider and got superpowers, which I will use for selfish reasons, then let a burglar escape and he´ll rob you and kill you.

BEN: Oh. Very well then. As long as you´re not smoking pot!

Announcer: Hey Dylan, you've just been replaced by the guy in "Notting Hill." Inquiring minds wants to know, "How does that makes you feel?"

dylan_baker-298x500.jpg

DYLAN BAKER: Why you (bleep) (bleep)! You (bleep) (bleep) (bleep)! I'm gonna cut your (bleep) (bleep), you (bleep) (bleep)! Come here you (bleep) (bleep)!!!

LOL... seriously, it's a shame we never got to see Dylan Baker play the Lizard. If you've ever seen Happiness or Trick 'r Treat, you know he can play an awesome psychopath.

Future: I believe in you, man. You can do this. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Rabbit: I don't know what it is, man. When I get up on the stage, I just f**kin' choke. I don't know what to say.

Future: I think I got an idea. Here, put this on.

82.jpg

Rabbit: His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs,
but he keeps on forgettin what he wrote down,
the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's choking how, everybody's joking now
The clock's run out, time's up over, bloah!
