I wonder if they'll be back to how they were before in DOFP?

I just take it as artist interpretation. Wolvies claws in the comics were constantly changing, and still are. If mangold and Co. wanted to have them come out lower, be more metallic, or curved, or however, its their artistic decision. I don't think it really needs a plot point to back it up. Maybe it was just to make the CGI more realistic and better.

Its cool to have different claw designs in different movies in my opinion.

Its bad when they constantly change during the same movie though, haha, Like X3 and a little bit of origins. They kept changing placement and width apart, etc

Singer will get back on track with DOFP, how they looked in X1 and 2. Flawless and cool/REAL in every scene. I hope Mangold at least has some consistency with the claws.

I noticed the claw design difference as well. They always used to show partially on the backs of his hands a bit didn't they?

Also, looking at that pic of Wolvie laying on the grated floor, it really does look like the claws on his hand may have been cut, which would be interesting for DOFP.

Yeah, I don't have any problem with them being different really. I prefer the placement of the older claws but the size and shape of these ones looks good and, like someone else said, the detail around where they come out of his hands, more wound-like, is good as well.

Some spoilers in article

Slashfilm: 25 Things I Learned on the Set of ‘The Wolverine’

Two bits among many (vague)

The story is structured in a way that you don’t know who is good and bad, and it’s meant to be somewhat confusing. James Mangold didn’t want to do the regular super villain comic book movie arc, and pushed to make it more character-based.

A cynical Mangold was shocked that 20th Century Fox agreed to let him end the film in the way he wanted.

Is that last bit good or bad? :(

So much stuff today it's hard to keep track.

Lot's of the stuff being described sounds great! It would be good if they released an R-rated cut for DVD. I'd still be surprised if it happened but the fact that they shot R scenes makes me hopeful.

That worries me, too.
It makes me think it could end with him still no longer having a healing factor at all, which would then sync up with the Wolverine comic arc that's coming up. If that is his new comic status quo because of this movie, I'll be very unhappy.
Wolverine is cool because of the healing factor, not in spite of it.

I doubt that's going to be the case

I highly, highly doubt they would get rid of his healing factor.

Still not sure how this film is going to turn out. Looks kinda unspectacular. But theres nothin wrong with a smaller superhero film. As long as the script and story is good ill be happy. Plus i love jackmans wolverine so ill be there opening day.
The footage just hasnt wowed me yet

The scans looks great!

and I'm glad the promotion is starting to pick up!

Just read an IGN article talking about their visit to the Sydney set, and I have to say that the more I hear about this film, the more excited I get. I love James Mangold as a director and have this feeling that this movie, despite it being largely standalone story-wise, is going to end up being the best film in the X-Franchise to date and the perfect 'harbinger' for Singer's DoFP.

This is gonna surprise a lot of people!

Indeed. Now wouldn't it be ironic if this turns out to be one of the best comic movies ever? My expectations are in check, though. Going from xmen origins (one of the most hated) to this potentially awesome flick would be a great comeback for Wolvie.
