It's obvious: Tim Sale is Jeph Loeb's brain, super-evolved into another human being.

It's a huge contrast, really.

On one end, there's stuff like Batman: The Long Halloween and Superman for All Seasons.

On the other, there's Ultimates 3 and Hulk.

does anyone know when was the first time the hulk was mentioned as being the strongest one there is?

She ever lose?

If she did, all comic book forums would know about it the instant the issue came out.

And then, knowing them, majority would call out for the writer's blood.

Most likely his first appearance, by the Hulk himself.

Actually, I want to say Stan Lee was the first in a caption. It read something like "The most powerful creature to walk the earth."

Go ahead and say it. Just make sure you back it up is all.

I've posted it like a hundred times. I was asked to stop posting it because I've posted it so many times.

Marvel has repeatedly stated - at least in the recent past - that Thor is the most powerful of the regular heroes. This was seen, for example, in the Infiinity Gauntlet series, and in Marvel's now-defunct magazine "Marvel Premier", where a contest of strength was held and Thor won, with second place going to the Hulk. Some use the Hulk's statement "Hulk is the strongest one there is!" as proof of his superiority, but this is more brag than fact, as he is the only one who makes this statement. In their normal states Thor is considered stronger than the Hulk by Marvel editors, and they both have their accelerated strength states (Thor's "warrior madness" and the Hulk's "the madder the Hulk gets, the stronger he gets), so it all evens out in the end.

In an interview between Roy Thomas and Stan Lee (in Comic Book Artist Collection, Vol. 1), when asked by Thomas who between Thor and the Hulk is strongest, Lee is quoted as saying, "I would have to guess that Thor is stronger, only because he is a god and probably can't be killed. Again, I don't know how the guys have been writing him lately, but I thought of him as invulnerable. I would think that with his hammer and everything, he'd probably beat the Hulk."

Additionally, speaking of the cosmic entities being "strong" is meaningless, since their stations are so high that their strength cannot be measured. But if one wanted to say "who is the most powerful?" it would be The One Above All (TOAA - formerly identified as "God - He who rules ALL realities" by Eternity in Strange Tales). Second place would be the Living Tribunal, who was considered omnipotent, omnicient, and number one until Marvel decided to give him a boss - or just acknowledge the existence of the Almighty God (TOAA). Third place goes to Eternity. Being the embodiment of all there is makes him no one to fool with. Once again, see The Infinity Gauntlet and the Infinity War for verification.

It might also be stated that when Thanos - in "The End" series - managed to destroy *everything*, including apparently the Living Tribunal, it was later revealed that Thanos was being subtly manipulated by The One Above All in order to accomplish a desired end (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-Above-All). TOAA clearly sits atop the Marvel power pyramid.

Being such as the tribunal and Eternity are beyond physical strength that means nothing to them they can alter and eliminate realities and universes at a grandscale. When it comes to physical strength the Hulk is the strongest and who knows befor you know it his son Skaar may turn out to be stronger and more powerful due to his oldpower and his fathers power and strength combined.

Hey, it's a blast from the past for the thread that never dies...

Not to mention, it isn't about cosmics at all. . .

TheCorpulent1 could lock the thread and solve the problem.

see the name.
i mean in a crossover he caused superman to bleed. thats right, ****ing SUPERMAN!

Just a reading a few pages of this thread I am shocked that Silver Surfer isnt mentioned more. People keep mentioning Hulk, yet Hulk has never or rearely defeated the SS yet he doesnt get mentioned.

Not sure if SS has fought Thor or Sentry in the past though, has he?

He has. Loki gave the Surfer a power boost in his first fight with Thor and the Surfer still lost. The only other fight between them that I'm aware of was in "Blood and Thunder," where the Surfer ended up getting stomped pretty hard again, but it's kind of an odd case since Thor was insane and the Surfer was trying to help him rather than beat him.

Don't know about the Sentry. The Surfer's been kind of forgotten since the Sentry's been around, to be honest. He's had that one appearance in Annihilation and cameos in FF and Nova, but that's about it lately.

See I would have thought that the Surfer would be too powerful for Thor, seeing as Thor never beats Hulk and Hulk has never beaten the Surfer. It seems the writing got the best of the characters there, as I believe Surfer would beat Thor easily.

Yeah, its a shame SS is being utilised less and less.

I think Thor's fights with the Surfer have been pretty fair, personally. I chalk the Hulk wins up to Thor being stupid and not using a lot of his powers for them. But on a level playing field against the Surfer? He ought to be okay. They have virtually the same powers anyway.

My vote went to Sentry. I'm assuming that we're talking generally earth-bound characters so I didn't include Tribunal, etc.

Current Thor with Thor-force or whatever is debateable. The whole WWH mini was trash imo, and completely ran contrary to previous on panel encounters between Sentry and Hulk

Strongest in Marvel I say Silver Surfer I saw Incredible Hulk wind up on Surfer and when the Hulk hit him the Surfer didn't even move. He was too busy trying to figure out how strong he is and where his strength is coming from. After Surfer I gotta say Thor in his current series he told Stark that this whole time he has been holding back. Now Thor doesn't just have his strength but he is doubling up cause after Odin died in got Odin's power too not to mention the power he got from his real mother the spirit of Earth Gaea.

The idea that Thor was just holding back in ALL the comic issues up until recently is the most ******ed thing I've ever heard. Does that mean that even on those numerous times when he appeared to be losing and innocent people's lives he still just "held back"? Why?! Just for fun? Ridiculous and stupid. Him being more powerful due to Thor Force or whatever makes sense, but that line about him holding back was just stupid.
