...Well, what happened after? You left me on a cliffhanger. :p

And I'm just going by what Marvel's giving me. I guess they've been inconsistent with the character since someone mentioned he used to lift about 5 tons and that was his limit but nowadays they're trying to bring him up there with the big guys (where he should be, imo).

EDIT: Hey, why doesn't hellfire hurt Thor? Doesn't it hurt...everybody? Isn't that the point? Marvel really can't decide whether this guy's all powerful or just a second stringer. Didn't he get taken down by the Avengers too? Makes no sense.

Hellfire burns the soul as well as the body. Thus, I imagine it would work on any mortal but I imagine in the case of Immortals you just couldnt destroy their souls because they're limitless.

Anyone know if GR's ever used his hellfire on other immortals? Herc, Mr Immortal, Ares etc?

Thor is a mystic entity. His body is full of magical energy at a greater magnitude than that of Zarathos. The Hellfire can't burn a superior magical force.

The problem with Ghost Rider is that he keeps getting retconned:

70s and 80s:

Demon Biker/Zarathos

90s:

Spirits of Vengeance
Angel of Death - (Noble Kale story)

Current:

God's Wrath bound to a Human Soul , extremely unstable, limitless power that can destroy the entire world and the heavenly worlds.

--

It seems the source of Heavenly wrath goes beyond the mystic realms of Dr. Strange, Thor, etc. and any natural laws of Physics that superheroes abide by. That might explain why he has been able to defeat Dr. Strange quite a few times. Heavenly weapons can cut through anything, destroy anything, and DO anything. They seem to be completely out of the realm of the normal Marvel Universe.

--

Take that as you will.

Yeah, I'm finding nothing on GR running into these two. Wow. There's a buck to be made there. I mean when those two show up on earth a siren must go off in GR's head. That's billions of souls to be avenged. You'd think he'd drop everything he's doing and be there ASAP.

Maybe GR doesnt think that aliens are worth avenging. Rascist skull****.

Anyways, has anyone thought about Kurse?

He's gotta be in with a shout, at least (although Hulks Anger/Strength 'get out clause' wins out in the end)

Kurse still has a limit though. Double the strength of Thor. It's considerably strong but when Hulk can pull a planet back together and destroy the United States' eastern seaboard in 3 steps it's hard to beat him.

All Silver Surfer do is take a punch from the Hulk and didn't budge, didn't even feel it, Surfer was too busy trying figure where the source of his power was coming from.

Hulk has also beaten Surfer to a pulp in a gladiator arena (I don't care how weakened they say he was. His obedience disc was off when Hulk started pummeling him.:oldrazz:).

It was in Hulk comic right? They had to find a way for Surfer to loose, its like DC having to find a way for Superman to be Vulnerable and loose sometimes. Surfer Killed two Celestials in Annilhation there is no way in gods green earth that Hulk is in the same plain of power as the Surfer.

Seriously. Surfer defeating the celestials was the equivalent of Reed Richards defeating Galactus. A tool of some sort was involved. It wasn't hand to hand (or beam to beam for that matter). I forgot just what the Surfer covered them with to win though.

That doesn't really make much sense.

So basically your saying that if a character have to use more than his braun and have to resort to of all things his brain its not fair? Come on now it wasn't like it was tag team affair with Galactus and Surfer. Galactus was out for the count and on the brink of death.

Well,

a. He was in the middle of saying "Thank you" when the Hulk attacked

and

b. He got back up a few seconds later with no visible damage.

He almost killed himself diverting "the crux" or something into the two. It wasnt his powers at all that killed them.

It's the equivalent to if I use my entire strength to push a boulder off a tall cliff, and you (who could easilly lift the boulder normally) are killed by it falling, It proves that I'm stronger than you.

It was a very circumstantial win and you presented it as something the Surfer could have done at any time he wanted to anyone he wanted.

Nothing circumstantial about it, he was grossly overmatched against not one but two celestials who were just about to put an end to Galactus of people. So he used a power that was greater than both to save his master. I call it a job well done he used his brain to win a fight he couldn't under normal circumstances win. Lesson to be learned here the brain is most powerful muscle and knowing halfs the battle.

So, by that rule, I could be the strongest human being ever if I somehow managed to trick a grizzly bear into a pool of lava because I would have thus proven myself stronger than a grizzly bear?

In that case Reed is the strongest. He's defeated Galactus and Franklin Richards <celestial>. And he's defeated Hyperstorm.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I'd consider Franklin beyond Celestial-level, myself. Given that the Heroes Reborn universe is just that--a whole new universe, complete with brand new life--I'd say he's pretty much capital-G God-level. Maybe a step or two shy, since the universe was imperfect and Dr. Doom literally outsmarted it.

Just wait till he grows up. He'll make a perfect universe someday. Hell, he'll prolly remake the Days of Future Past Universe so he can tap that Rachael arse.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

And an Art Adams rendered Rachael arse, at that.

Toned.

EDIT: Dammit. Got my artists wrong. Shoulda said Bryne. :cmad:

For some reason, I was thinking of a Days of Future Past inspired story drawn by Art. Cant remember where it was from, but it involved Cyclops and Sue Storm becoming mutant hunting hounds for Ahab............

No I'm not saying he's strongest cause of that. Others were saying it wasn't fair fight cause he used his brain and thats just wrong. He's the strongest cause he can take Hulks punch and not move but at the same time if he punched Hulk he'd send em to another dimension literally and figurtively.

I still think you're overestimating the Surfer based on one or two isolated incidents, but to each his own.

It was circumstantial. He was only able to direct the crux at the two because they just happened to (by CIRCUMSTANCE no less) be right there next to the crux while they were fighting.

It's not something he could do any time he wanted. It had very specific requirements.

I think it was the Crunch, actually. But otherwise, I agree.

Didn't he lose like half of his body in the process too? I remember him floating with bits missing and Galactus fixing him up.

circumstance is what allowed Thor to scare off Galactus or anyone beating Galactus for that matter or Superman loosing a fight its all circumstances cause there is no other way to beat him. It is what it is and thats a win for the Surfer cause unlike them he survived.Could he do it again under different circumstances no but thats no different than the Giants beating the Bills in the superbowl. IF those same teams played again the bills might win 9 out of 10 but the one time won under those circumstances are the only ones that count.
