Comics The SUPERIOR Spider-Man - Part 1

I sort of agree with you, manofbat. I loved the first movie when I saw it in theaters. But after rewatching it a few years later, I'm not sure it was because it was a good movie.

We'd been waiting years for a Spider-Man movie at that point. There were numerous attempts to get a movie made that failed, and then we FINALLY go it.

So after watching both Spider-Man and TASM, I think that they're pretty equal from a film-making standpoint. It was just the culture of the time that made me appreciate the first movie more than TASM.

It's so hard to be a TASM fan outside of the TASM boards. :o

I don't agree that Spider-Man should be in the MCU or at least the Avengers. He works better by himself and it took years before he joined the Avengers anyway. Right now it doesn't even make sense for him to be a apart of the team because he's still a kid while all of the Avengers are like late 20s-early 40s and then Thor. I'm pretty sure Marvel and Sony already worked out some cross promotion clause in the deal that sent Marvel the merchandising rights back because they are able to use things like the Oscorp building and ESU name, so I'm sure they'll start dropping hints that Spidey exists in the Avengers world but just isn't apart of the Avengers or is acting before the Avengers are formed (which makes sense because not many heroes should be active when Peter first becomes Spidey other than the FF, who Marvel don't have the rights to, and Hulk.

Also, we can get a better film than TASM from Sony, and we have. SM3 was just a series of unfortunate circumstances that weren't entire Sony's fault (most of it wasn't) and TASM wasn't up to par because they had a lot of limitations on them with it being a reboot so early. It looks like they're about to kick in the door with TASM2 and it should get the Spidey film franchise back up to par.

I get Spidey works mostly as a loner, but, the Marvel movie universe is such darn fun! Ideally, we can get two or three Spider-Man movies and then get him in Avengers 3 or 4. I'd love to see Spidey interact with Robert Downey Jr. and company.

And I DON'T want it to be Garfield Pete/Spidey. :cmad:

I'm a long time Spidey fan... maybe not as long as SG & TS... but my first exposure was the cartoon back in 1972 (it was the Scorpion one... the second one), and started getting into the comics in 1975... so I WANT TO LIKE THESE MOVIES!!!!

Ah, we're pretty close. Got into Spidey via the cartoon in 1972 as well. It's only because I'm slightly older that I got into the comics in 1973. :yay:

And I apologize, because it seems we moved off topic... The Superior Spider-Man...

I'd love to see a Marvel Team Up movie...

Can you imagine a MTU movie featuring "The Tomorrow War" storyline... with Spidey, Iron Man, the Human Torch & The Inhumans against Kang the Conqueror?

:yay:

To this day... almost 11 years later, I can still watch the last 90 seconds of that movie where he swings through NYC, and it still takes my breath away...

I JUST ran across this over at the comic art community site... and it's done by Camuncoli... but what's up with the bogus-looking sidebox?!?...

is this for real?...

He's repeating what Jamie Foxx has said.
I don't recall Foxx saying his mom forgot his birthday or that he wants revenge on Peter for not bing his BFF. He basically says his life sucks and people steal his ideas but he never went into those exact details. Correct me if I'm wrong of course.

And I'm so glad I got the original 698 and 700 issues. I wonder how much they will be worth in about 10 years? Especially 698, a lot of people didn't know about how big the issue was going to be.

Yeah, it's like the 3rd printing variant or something...

I know, but that sidebox looks so fannish... it's the only part of it that doesn't look legit...

and who's the guy behind Doc's ass?... is that supposed to be Camuncoli?...

The guy with the goatee? That's Peter's boss at Horizon. Can't remember his name off the top of my head.

EDIT: Max Modell is his name

ah, thanks for that... I just happened to weirdly think it might be Cammo...

And that's how we all want to see Max Dillon portrayed...

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:
Well Webb or Foxx (I don't remember who) brought up the point that there is really no definitive take on Electro in the comics so that leaves a lot to interpretation. If it's the Dillon they think will work for the movie then it's fine, since Electro isn't a greatly defined character.

Maybe... but he's certainly never been defined asa "whiney brat"... he's always been arrogant... heck, even in his first appearance, he wouldn't save a co-worker's life unless the boss agreed to give him some kind of bomus.

I'd rather see THAT kind of portrayal than someone being sad and mad becasuse their Mommy forgot their birthday.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

Christ... I couldn't even type that without making the rolley eyed face...

he definitely improved since spectacular. But still, I think it's sad that spiderfans are stuck with his work when better artists could make a better job.

Like Art Adams, Bart Sears, or Todd McFarlane. :yay:

That's how the sidebox looked when they used it on Spidey 100.
It had Spidey kind of standing in an awkward position, but the sidebox is just part of the homage.

I loved the McFarlane side box with Spidey hanging upside down. The one Jim Lee did for X-Men vol 2 was great as well.

I know, I was THERE when ASM #100 first came out on the stands, it's just that the sidebox looks so poorly done on the third printing, is all...

it just doesn't have that professional look to it, it looks like it's a fanboy effort or something... but I've been looking around and it IS the real deal...
