Well this picture was a nice surprise. I like most of the tweaks, but I prefer the oval buckle and original boot tip design. I love the shorter hair on Cavill (wish he had the curl but no biggie). Looks like the belt has Kryptonian font etched into it which is cool. Crossing my fingers the cape has the yellow \s/, but i doubt it. The changes are subtle, but significant enough for me to notice and like it.

Remember how livid people were when it was revealed that Superman had an \s/ symbol for his belt buckel in Superman Returns?

In retrospect that kinda did looked a bit silly.

Sure, though there's a big difference between the subtle, ornate pattern on this belt, and the big plastic-y S of Superman Returns.

I really like the new belt. The square and the thicker band make it look a little more belt-like, which makes the whole costume look more less like Kryptonian pajamas (which isn't meant as an insult to the MOS costume).

I'm still not 100% on the square buckle, I really dig the subtle s inside, but I agree. This suit looks even more regal, and appears to be made for outerwear instead of...well... underwear. And I thought the MOS suit was just almost perfect

This is the first Superman with an altered costume between movies... I wonder if they'll keep doing it? I'm getting ahead here, but I wonder if we should expect further alterations, however subtle, in Superman's JL suit.

Here's a comparison image I just made.

Still not a fan of the square buckle, but that's just nitpicky on my part.

Really good. I like the new "buckle" but not how it isn't attached to the piping like the oval buckle is on the previous suit. It is basically just floating there. And do parts of the "S" look thicker to anyone else or am I just seeing things?

I noticed that too. I believe the symbol is overlaid on a slightly larger blue Shield, which both gives it edging and makes it slightly raised. The extra dimension looks sharp.

I was wondering if I was imagining things or not

Sure, I would be completely ok with them tweaking his suit for each movie. They should do that for all recurring characters! Keeps them fresh, and gives you little details to look at during dialogue scenes. It's not completely necessary, but it's more interesting to look at than the same suit each time.

Everytime I press Start and see that pic as my background I make a little noise and do..well...this...

I didn't think I'd say this when I first heard they were making changes too the suit. But, I like the BvS suit more then the MOS suit. Although I still love the MOS suit.

loving the new deets on the suit, and i no longer feel awkward about the floating circle that was his "belt".

given that the textured fabric-effect on his suit unifies him with the Batfleck suit, the new shinier belt would likely be small details that will unify his outfit with WonderGal's, since word has it that the new WW costume would be Amazon warrior princess like, so it gonna have armour pieces (at least)

The \S/ on the Returns belt was the single dumbest design aspect of a Costume that had a boat load of dumb design.

That's a pretty big statement. I think the tiny, low-rise hotpants, and the cape attachment that looked like a napkin tucked into a T-shirt, were worse.

Michael Wilkinson clearly loves "Lois and Clark" :o:

The resemblance is uncanny.

Yes.

I like the new "buckle" but not how it isn't attached to the piping like the oval buckle is on the previous suit. It is basically just floating there.

As I said somewhere else, the square buckle is inset from a window cut for it out of the waist of the suit itself. The effect is that the belt now looks like one continuous strip of fabric running around the waist, rather than a floating gold disk with some gold stripes pointing towards it.

I prefer it.

That seems extremely odd to release the image at such a high resolution online. Usually that sort of image size is reserved for promotional purposes.

I see that it's cut into the suit but seeing has how the piping doesn't connect to the cut out for the buckle it looks kinda weird to me. It is really just a nitpick...I love the suit. It's not really a complaint, just something I noticed

The best thing is definitely that way bolder and more noticeable gold band around the sides. It definitely improves on the original there and should break up the suit more. Just that rectangle centre though I instantly thought 'Ugh Dean Cain belt'. I loved the 'pill' in the original how it harkened to his original belt but modernized without the trunks.

Love the changes they've made to the suit, in particular the slightly brighter blues and reds. I hope that's reflected in live action also and not down to the colour adjustments made in that picture alone.

On first impression, I thought the sound of a square belt buckle area was just wrong - but looking at it, it provides a cleaner and more concise divide between the top and bottom areas of the suit.

As much as I love the MOS suit more than any previous one I've seen in live action, without a belt/trunks like traditional Superman costumes it does suffer very slightly from the all-in-one effect - like a wetsuit. The enhanced buckle effect, coupled with the cleaner lines on the piping and such do a lot to counteract this and separate the top and bottom halves of the suit.

An all-in-one suit isn't necessarily a huge problem, but I do think it sometimes gives a slightly androgynous look if not handled correctly. But that probably stems more from western culture, where we've had pretty much decades of seeing men in trousers/trunks and girls in skirts.

My sentiments exactly. I thought that Jim Lee's new52 suit was better than the MoS suit because of the belt that worked just the way you described. The new suit fixes a lot of these issues.

I still prefer the red belt and cleaner look of the new52 suit instead of the scaley - basketball texture we have here, but i understand that the suits need some texture when adapted in real life, so it's ok.
