BvS The Superman Suit Thread - Part 4

Having just picked up this month's Empire, I can report that the spit curl is most definitely on: there are two pictures that show him with it. I think it forms at about the time of his confrontation with Batman.
Question is... will he keep it for the future? He looks great. I'm ok either way, as I consider myself a big Superman fan.

Batman and Wonder Woman will say he should keep it. Aquaman too.

I said it before, but I'll say it again. Cavill looks like comic book Supes, but in the latest pics with his spit curl, he IS comic Supes come to life right before our very eyes.

Routh had a nasily voice. Reeve, Cavill, even Welling had a very smooth and manly voice.

Routh sounded like a nerd as Superman.

He's great as ATOM.

I don't think his voice was nasaly at all, Dean had a more nasal voice, 8 felt Routh's was fine. It lacked authority and was wooden, but the deepness was fine.

The curl happens during the main BvS fight, I saw the extra 3 secs of the 1st trailer where cavill was sporting the curl before he and Batman charged each other. As for whether he'll keep it or not, well maybe if enough fans complain about cavill's baldness (only half sarcastic here) then they'll ditch the gel-cap look and go ó-natural for the next superman solo.

Has anyone tried translating the Krypton writing on the suit yet anywhere?

For those who say Routh didn't have the body for Superman, I think it was more the suit than anything. Routh is actually pretty built and muscular. He does have a long torso imo, which may make him look less muscular, especially in conjunction with the SR suit and it's tiny little S shield emblem.
and his neck too... not thick enough. lol

the suit looks very thin and doesn't have padded.

Well ideally that's the look they are going for but there is indeed padding/molding.

It's not that noticeable aside from the abs which I'm still not a fan of there.

Um, isn't the curl clearly only there because his hair's wet?

Curl is probably a nod. I don't think he'll keep it and always have it from that point in the film onwards, but it might resurface here and there when it's raining.

I was actually quite surprised to see the suit bending like this on touch, expecting it to be thicker and more restrictive.

It's kind of funny how Henry Cavill has a natural spit-curl in real-life.

Henry Cavill looks like he walked straight out of the comicbooks.

I know I should leave it be... But Damn, man. Why couldn't they have just posted his hair this way?? They are always right there barely missing, just flirting with perfection. And it's always simple stuff.

Could someone manip this shot on a promo shot of the suit?

...the curl is clearly used like Elvis.

He starts off all neat and clean.
Gets a little "active" and excited... all shook up, if you will, and the curl "drops" Then he uses the curl like a girly lure. They can't resist.:sly:

I think the "film" suit is built from a spandex type material with the "chainmail" and Kryptonian patterns molded on top or adhered to the thin athletic "spandex" suit. This makes it very flexible. This of course is over a thin definition suit. The silver one people mention.

I guess the problem with leaving his hair at this length without any products to keep it in place is that it could easily cause inconsistencies in shots with locks falling differently. Some time ago, I made a short film with some mates of mine when I had mid-length hair, and trust me, it can be very annoying. I was constantly thinking about whether my hair looks the same as it did in previous shot, as I didn't want to cause a well-acted scene to go to waste because I suddenly and inexplicably look different.

It is the reason why Harrison Ford went for rather short contemporary haircut and demanded that he doesn't get to wear any hats when he was filming "Blade Runner", as he was sick of it from "Indiana Jones".

Yeah, I think you're right. It looks like they just 3D printed the chainmail pattern over rather thin suit. I am not sure whether he's still wearing the "silver suit" underneath though, as this is a different manufacturer than one that made MOS suit.

Anyway, I really like how rubbery it doesn't look. It is a great costume.

I think this is where genetics comes into play. Wasn't Routh older than Reeve when he got the role, was technically playing an older Superman, but still looked younger?

I still part of it comes down to the way the character was written. There just wasn't much to work with. He was more entertaining and fun to watch as a super powered vegan than Kryptonian. :woot:

Reeve as well as Routh were 26 at the time they played Superman, Reeve actually looked a few years older then he was while in case of Routh.. he looked a bit younger than 26.

Cavill was 29 (three years older than Reeve / Routh) when he first played Superman.

He is definitely wearing a "silver muscle suit" underneath, look at his sculpted abs.

Is it the only way to get sculpted look though?

I am actually basing this idea of them going for different way to get sculpted look and not "silver suit" exactly because of the abs. They look a bit different than they did in MOS:

Actually in the 2000 dvd special edition Chris reeve said exactly this, "I was 24 and dead serious", in regards to how he played superman. So he was 24 not 26 while filming.
