Since Batman is pretty much Zorro that's placed in a different Universe, why not give him this look?

I, too, hate the TDK suit. The BB suit was far superior...especially the neck. Hoping they do indeed change it up again. My guess? He'll have to to combat Bane.

Personally, I'd love to see something like Batman wore in the DC Universe Cinematic Trailer...all armoured up. It was like an updated version of the finale of TDKR where Bruce beats Clark. Someone else did a super impressive military armor style mock-up a year or two ago, maybe longer, that was based on a video game design of some sort?

I have yet to see any video game Batsuit that has looked better than BB or TDK's.

I am guessing you were talking about the Halo style armor?

Also, I felt the armor in the DCU Online trailer was too much. Maybe for a final battle with Bane, but not for the majority of the movie.

Eh, can't stand the Halo look on Bats. And I thought he barely looked like Batman with the jigsaw costume, this takes it to a different extreme. Leave this stuff for the video games.

The idea of Batman using a special suit to defeat Bane is just awful. Batman's going to beat Bane because he's smarter, better trained, and has the superior will and spirit; breaking out a special armour for the task is a low, low quality finish with absolutely no thematic value.

It's funny, I hated the sheer thickness of the BB 'Panther-neck' and thought the dexterity given my the thinner TDK neck was far superior.

Ah well, each to their own. Differing opinions show that we are all individual.

I really don't think Batman upgrading his suit will negate from that, anymore than the sleeker suit, the batpod and the sonar negated his victory over The Joker in TDK. Though I agree were he to specifically use a special suit to defeat Bane, ala the Schumacher films or The Dark Knight Returns it would be terrible.

No, obviously I don't mean that Batman shouldn't improve his equipment in general--that's always something he should be looking to do.

To those wanting some sort of spandex-like material to stretch over the pads, do you guys have any idea what it would look like? Or how it would work?
Well in my concept;

The suit has armour underneath. The fabric itself is also made of a durable material.

It's not really spandex-like though. Nobody is asking for anything resembling spandex last time I checked.

As for the 'abs', they are actually the abdominal plating showing through.

I figure if this can resemble human musculature and still be called armour;

Then my concept can use a similar under-armour that resembles muscles even more now that it has a 'skin'.

Here's a better pic of the nomex suit:

I agree... If anything... I bet batman requests a lighter, more loosely fitting suit to fight bane in. I could see batman initially losing to bane due to his armor slowing him down. Maybe we will even get a fight scene where batman removes his suit in front of bane to have their final combat moment... That would be cool. Bruce and bane fighting "Mano a Mano" with no armor.

When put in light, the TDK suit looks silly, but in the films attention is never drawn to his "jigsaw" legs, It's never really drawn to his suit at all. Every time I saw him on screen I saw him as batman regardless of the suit. The suit works in a creative sense, it works within the style of the film. I've yet to see the classic grey + black trunks work on live action without it looking funny and stupid. (although JAK your concept looks very nice i'd say)

Where were all these haters when the film came out?

I was here, alright, though I don't think that "hater" is a useful description of somebody who would like improvements made to a costume in a movie.

Improvements sure, It's always needed improving, but it was always in my memory that people hated the BB suit, what with all "teh puffy" comments and all, and thought TDK's suit was superior. Now I see all these people who hate the TDK suit (fair enough) but also prefer the BB suit (wow, really?)

I just want to know if it's always been like that, and I never noticed it or was just mistaken.

My two cents; TDK suit is fine, maybe a little less busy for the next one, but I liked the way he looked in that film.

The first promo picture of the Batsuit flattered the design by lighting and composition. I was disappointed that the suit represented a further step away from the comic book original, being even more armoured than the one we got in BB, but I remember thinking that the new design looked sleeker and more mobile for all that, and therefore represented an improvement.

The TDK suit is much less attractive when seen clearly, in flat light, however. It is less well proportioned than the BB suit, which was puffy all over; and the head and bra area look inflated and awkward. Worst of all are the unnecessarily segmented and bulky hip and thigh areas, which are misconceived and poorly designed, since the "joints" do not correspond to the movements of human limbs.

Neither design is ideal. I prefer the slimness of the TDK suit, but the overall design of the BB suit is better achieved and less ugly.

Well, the good thing is that Wally Pfister could film a rock and make it look cool.

You might be right, but static pictures of this thing itself aren't so different. The fattened cranium on the thin neck; the overly thickened "bra" area and the muddled segmentation over the hips, crotch and thighs; are all flaws found in the suit itself.
