the same way "Good cop/Bad cop" makes the bad cop more effective, not less effective.

That's a good point

I guess I retract my previous statement, then. I hadn't thought of it that way.

Or Hit Girl in Kick-Ass.

Word. Super 8 also made me think Robin could work.

The biggest problem with Robin is that he doesn't fit with Batman's whole "strike fear" vibe. No matter how much black you put on him, that Robin still doesn't look frightening.

I think the key to making Robin work in a Batman film is introducing him in a semi-stand alone film first. Have him go solo on the crusade for a while to be discovered by Batman after he has assumed the Robin outfit. The movie can start off with him as a young kid and when he's about 15-18 years old he becomes Robin.

The difference being that the picture he posted actually looks like the suit it was being compared to.

If it makes you feel better, the Burton 89 suit was similar.
You highlighted the obviously sarcastic part of my post. I feel the rest of what I said still applies. I think a more "organic" could look better and easily be believable in Nolan's Batman movies.

I think that's the key as well. It should be Batman taking him under his wing to protect him and train him properly. It definitely SHOULDN'T be Batman pulling some 10 year old off the street and turning him into a weird warrior and putting his life in danger for the heck of it. None of that weird Frank Miller stuff.

That depends on how far you take it. The Spawn suit is way past overkill. The Begins suit was actually quite organic, doesn't get enough credit for that. I'd like to see another Begins level attempt at being both functional and organic looking, without taking either extreme (B&R versus TDK) too far - and without just being the exact same suit.

The benefits of a fabric suit is that it can look organic in a way that is natural, with the function being implied;

@ Jak

I don't care which material it would end up being made with, that design is excellent.

It's ugly because it makes him look fat, like the faux Batmen of TDK.

I may get hated on for this but I don't think the cape really needs to be so long it's dragging everywhere.

Neither do I, but the original image had it like that and I didn't feel like changing it.

No I feel ya I meant in general not in the manip itself, I still adore the manip.

I like it! Since there's armor underneath the fabric, could you do a manip displaying it?

And not his strength and acrobatic skills?

Detective_Comics_27.jpg

I was saying that in comparison to other superheroes. He's not as acrobatic as Spider-Man, Daredevil, or Dick Grayson, and he not as strong as Spider-Man, or Superman. He is, however smarter than those guys. While he is strong and acrobatic by human standards, he does live in the DCU with metahumans who far exceed him in those categories. After all, it is his intelligence that he contributes to the Justice League, not his strength or his acrobatic skills. Make sense?

Batman is not as smart as Superman or Mr Terrific. I wouldn't say his intelligence, more his strategical prowess and ability to adapt himself and the team to any situation. That's why I've always felt Batman belongs on the League.

Batman is smarter than Superman (I don't know Mr. Terrific). Batman's tactical and strategical skills are a part of his greater intelligence. Correct me if I am wrong, but Bruce Wayne is the smartest non-metahuman man of the DCU.

Lol, funny.

You're joking right? Right?

He is the worlds greatest detective.

Well here's a cross-section of the suit displaying the armour underneath;

tdkasylumarmour.jpg

That's the nomex survival suit from BB. The armour in this concept also gives the muscular appearance in the manip, the fabric acting as a tight 'skin' which also has it's own protective qualities (fire resistant, waterproof and somewhat bulletproof like kevlar).

Obviously the actor would not actually be wearing armour underneath the suit while filming, but other scenes will show that it is the case in the context of the film.

But his skills would be the equivalent of a circus strongman, wouldn't they? While his intelligence is his strongest point when compared to actual superbeings, his actual strength and acrobatic skills would not be unsuitable for the job of a strongman.

Hey, I got an idea.

One of you that has photoshop and is awesome on it, care to take a crack at making the TDK suit look like the Lee Bermejo Batsuit? With the same color scheme as the TDK suit?

I'll love you forever.

Come on, anybody? Anybody at all that's good at photoshop? I bet it'd be really easy too!

I'll give you a cookie.

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but aren't the three smartest people in the DCU:

Mr. Terrific (as stated in Infinite Crisis)

Lex Luthor

Oracle

There are WAY more than 3.

Batman is obviously one of them. Others being Deathstroke, T. O. Morrow, etc.

Batman has admitted that The Penguin is smarter than him:
