Also, why hasn't anyone dissected the suit in that TDKR promo pic? There are definite differences between that pic and the TDK suit.
Because the promo pic is the same design for the TDK promos, posters, merchandise, etc.

Case in point:

I wouldn't. :oldrazz:
It's weird because back in the day I can't honestly say that I was really that fond of the Begins suit, but after having seen the TDK suit that BB suit began looking better and better and I'm afraid now that if the TDKR suit is worse that the TDK suit that I might look back on the BB suit and in a moment of weakness become a black rubber convert :shivers:

I always liked the Begins suit. It looked beastly. The Dark Knight suit is too l fiddly for me, to many pads and straps, and an nigh invisible symbol.

I like the BB suit more than I used to, that for sure!

Different shade of grey.
Different cape/cowl attachment.
The plates on his abdomen/chest are more horizontal and less diagonal.
The patterns on his legs have fewer sections.

None of the things you mentioned can actually be seen on that image. It's brightly lit, so of course it looks grey; the cape attaches in the same way that it does on the TDK suit; the legs have the exact same pattern as the TDK suit; and finally, the abdominal plates are the same, with the angle of his body explaining why they appear to be oriented differently.

The leg things baffles me more than anything. Just compare the images; all the separations correspond the way they should. The legs are the same, and the suit is the same.

The only different thing seems to be a lack of the "V" that obscures the bat.

Heh, I doubt that's the problem.

A blue and grey scheme could be made to work perfectly well, and I would love to see it. So would all of you, once it happened.

Honestly, I just don't like the light colored suits. I don't like the blue in the comics, I doubt I'd like it in film. I just like darker colors on my superheroes. For a while I preferred the all black batsuits of the movies to the comics (since then I've gotten tired of seeing similar looks to all the movie suits, now I'd like to see a dark gray/black just to change it up).

But yeah, I just like the darker look. Like I said earlier, my favorite Spider-man design is the original Symbiote suit design (with the white eyes and spider being red).

I can't go so far as to say it looks all that much better. The contrast is about right and the chest logo is a definite improvement but its still the TDK suit with nearly all the same problems and the puzzle effect seems to be worsened by the color scheme not lessened. There are variants of this manip using bits and pieces of the Begins suit and while those aren't perfect either they come closer to the desired outcome than does this particular rendition. It is better though... in the way a D is better than an F.

I think it looks a lot better. I think if you wanted to lessen the noticeable jigsaw look you could make the material under the pads a similar color to the grey on the pads. Still, I think it makes it look ten times better. With the chest symbol being so much darker, the eye is drawn to the chest symbol, and you don't notice the busy torso as much. And in action it would be even less noticeable. And it just looks more like a Batman costume then TDK one does.

I agree. The light blue doesn't really make sense for Batman, and it makes me think more of the lighthearted, campy Batman, not the dark, serious Batman I prefer.

It does look nice.

Why? Why do people want this? Maybe I'm too old or mature or cynical, but I cannot fathom why someone would want this. Leave it to the comics. I mean, Nolan's films are the most grounded and practical of all comic films, and so many fans still want to regress.

Maybe because we want what we grew up with? We want what we like? Maybe because not all of us are enamoured with Nolan's interpretation?

What a silly question.

There are no differences. Look again.

Exactly. Can't believe people actually thought there were differences.

Which do you prefer: Black and gray or blue and gray?

I enjoy them both, but the blue/grey carries the larger-than-life superhero vibe I'm fond of. O'Neil and Adams' Batman is no less serious because he wears blue. It can be done if you give the world the proper tone.

Now, I understand I'm in the minority and the current grim hyper-realistic nature of the fan base would never tolerate the blue. It just rubs me the wrong way when people are called foolish for liking something others dislike.

My preference is for black/gray. It seems more natural and fitting for Bruce Wayne as Batman in my opinion. I do think that blue/grey works for Dick Grayson as Batman, because I think he enjoys being the larger-than-life superhero like you mentioned.

I don't think you're foolish for preferring the blue batsuit. It's just honestly not my cup of tea. I just don't like light colored Batman. Even when he's black and gray, I prefer dark gray and black. I think to work on film it would have to be very stylized, but it certainly could be done.

But like I said, I just like darker colors.

Me, too.

Is it?

The thing that first got me hooked on Batman was a blue clad Batman doll, I grew up with the 'New Look" Batman, and I am not enamored with Nolan's interpretation. Nonetheless I have no hesitation in saying that black not blue is the definitive partner to gray. And I say that regardless of the fact that Batman has often been portrayed in bluest of blues. But the blue is never really meant to be blue—blue is symbolic of black.

Bats are the color black the last time I checked, have any of you ever seen a blue and grey bat before?

Why are people analyzing a figurine? Most of the time these products are a little off with the colors. The bottom line is..... it's the same suit! There's nothing more to discuss.

Here are some examples:

The colors are too dark.

Suit is too dark, pecks are too light.
