Yeah thats how I was about it, everyone is trying to find a reason to put Robin in the movie. I did see a article though that said Cilian Murphy is being sneaky about him being in the movie as Dr. Crane.

His in the movie, 100%

I'm sorry, but what are these crumbling buildings everyone's talking about?

The animated, video-game looking shots from the teaser... actually being in the film...

:funny: Wasn't the whole idea of that to be some kind of metaphysical/abstract like image. . .like in all the other teasers?

Even Inception's crumbling buildings looked better than that haha

ahh, I don't think they'll be in the film. think they were just added to add to the cool factor of the title.

I don't think the bridge shot is the last shot, but I also don't think that:

-Batman/Bruce is dying
-Bruce will stop being Batman

I think the advertising is being purposely misleading. They want people to think Nolan is killing off Batman, but I don't think he will. Especially, if Bane nearly kills him half way through the film, Batman dying at the end won't be as meaningful.

And Bruce just giving up Batman just seems like a cop out to me.

I beleive Bruce will accept that Gotham will always need Batman AND Gotham will realize they need Batman. I think the film will end with the Batsignal being rebuilt and turned on. It will shine into the sky as the people of Gotham cheer at the symbol. Pan up to a roof top where Batman stands, cape billowing in the wind and he is joined (after a moment) by Catwoman and Blake (not as Robin/Nightwing/Azrael but as a sort of stand-in for Gordon). All a dramatic upshot, showing them looking out, then pan around to show the Batsignal on the clouds.

Big musical upswing, maybe with a variation of the Bane chant, but changed to support Batman. And then...BAM!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

and to add on to that Batman on the bridge scene, I looked at it again, maybe I've been looking at it wrong? it could actually be a sunset instead of a sunrise, and this could be the very first time Batman returns, because Gotham doesn't look very wrecked in that scene.

Please God, no, please!

that'd be way too corny and anti-climatic for a film of this scale. for a Shumacher movie, maybe, but I don't think Nolan would ever use that kind of ending. that can't possibly be the ending he envisioned.:BA

I so hope that we've seen absolutely NOTHING from this film, when it's revealed in theaters! Imagine if all the sudden, Gotham litterally starts to crumble, and all buildings WILL start to shatter, as seen in teaser!? Only in the movie, it will look just a bit too frighteningly real!? Bane has some sort of hi-tech thingy, which purpose is still quite unknown. And We all know that Bane wants Gotham to litterally fall! He also wants Batman to witness this... God, I hope we will see things in this film that no one dared to believe.

Gotham continuing to need batman is actually a bad ending, not in the sense that it lacks quality, but its actually a dark, negative ending for Bruce wayne. Realise that the mantle of the Bat in these films aren't looked upon as a bright, upstanding superhero career for the rest of his life, it's looked upon as a curse, something that is slowly killing Bruce, destroying his body bit by bit as he gets older, the risk of him dying out there is higher and higher. He needs and wants to end this.

If Bruce wayne is batman in the end of all of this....bare in mind this absolutely not be a happy ending nor will it promise the finality we have come to expect in this film.

I think so too.

The Dark Knight Rises is just the beginning. Hopefully the next films will be a continuation of what Nolan started instead of a reboot.

that's very Batman 89... don't think Nolan's trilogy is going to end like that.

Not to mention TDK gave us that ending already, if you ignore Rises telling us he retired after that instead of what Gordon's monologue implicated.

No, The Dark Knight Rises is just the ending. There won't be a next film, there will be a reboot.

That's exactly what I think!

I still say the "Fire will rise" slogan simplay mean the fire inside to do what you have been called to do or love to do.

Well, I'm glad you both gave it a lot of thought and consideration.

But I think something like this is likley. Obviously not exactly this, this was something I wrote out in 30 seconds, but something like this.

Like I said, he isn't going to die and he isn't going to quit. I can't see a film called "The Dark Knight Rises" ending with him giving up or, you know, being dead. Especially since it appears that about half the film is going to be about him getting back up.

The whole "END OF THE DARK KNIGHT LEGEND" nonsense may just be refering to Gordon's statement at the end of the Dark Knight. He will become the hero Gotham needs/deserves. He is no longer a Dark Knight.
