The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 18

There is no way Nolan would split a story.
It's definitely not Nolan's style. What I meant by that post is that Nolan might be stuffing in a little too much this time, and if Nolan wants to cut it below the three hour mark then the film could potentially have a lot of pacing issues.

Not going to happen.

Look at BB, Nolan managed to fit in Bruce's Origins, Batman's Origins, the state of Gotham, Rachel's character, a mob plot, Ra's Al Ghul and the League, Scarecrow and a doomsday plot all in one film and it laid out very nicely.

True. But (just playing devil's advocate here) now we have to see at least justification for Bruce moving on from Rachel (if we don't see the actual grieving period) and falling for Selina. I guess that's my biggest question mark right now. I know that Bane, Miranda/Talia, and John Blake's background and motivations can and will be handled well but I am most excited to see how Nolan includes Selina's backstory and the development of her and Bruce's relationship.

But there is no chance in hell of this movie being 3+ hours long.
Funny thing is that Rag has told me (from whatever he knows) there's no chance in hell it won't be. Lol.

I just don't see Nolan going for that - let alone WB.

Hopefully you'll have three quality films to tide you over until then, which will be a vast improvement over having to wait eight years with the last Batman film being Batman & Robin.

Truer posts, there are not. :yay:

Just curious, why do you think it won't break the 3 hr mark?

*nevermind. just saw your last post.

The best thing about the Nolan Bat films is that they feel big epic adventures. Fantastic Four 2 had tons of globe trotting but it still felt small.

There's more to epics than 'traveling to different countries' and Nolan's use of plotting and have minor
characters have some of the spotlight benefits a lot

We're just going to have to agree to disagree, guys. I have no evidence to support my claim, so perhaps I shouldn't have made such a declarative statement. I just flat-out do not see it happening.

TDK had tons of scope but it's plot was more urban (which fits its plot) while BB was more global.

chances are all that will be tied to one thing and executed that way.

Well, first off we have all the comments from oldman and Caine who have said similar.

Secondly I'm piecing together stuff we do know and approaching this from a storytelling ideal.

Bane's control of the city, Batman's 'retirement' Catwoman's involvement.

The implications of 3 Tumblers, the Stadium scene, the Batprawn. The shoot-out at GCPD.

All these things hint at a massive scope to the film that TDK didn't have. TDK was very centralized in what it was trying to do, we follow a narrow ut, twisting path.

TDKR seems to be moving in a different direction of having a spill over of emotions and situations.

That much is evident just from what we've seen.

Now what I infer from that could be different than what you infer from it but, I never said the movie is going to be better than TDK because I know something you don't.

I know somethings and I don't know a lot of things.

But I, like you am very entitled to state my opinions throughout this board.

If you don't think I've given anything of substances ever than go back and read some of the board from maybe two months ago because that assumption (or what you think is fact) is completely false.

Furthermore I know this makes you feel cool to call me out on the board but if you don't like my post simply block them from your view.

Now...off to the NYC location to see what I can see.

Even If nothing is set up, please take some pix so we know how the area looks like. Thanks.

If it's not, I just hope it's not 3+ hours of material, crammed into a 2 1/2 hr allotment. That's one thing I hated about TDK: too much story, for the amount of time it had, which, IMO, suffered from a lot of pacing issues.

:up::up: My feelings entirerly.

IMAX will have the movie, but they'll play it slightly faster to make it fit. They added in a chipmunk-ray subplot to accomodate the change.

Theyre both great movies but I prefer TDK though I hate to discredit my views on BB which I loved too.

The Dark Knight will always reign supreme for me. It out classes Begins in nearly every area for me.

The only thing in Begins I'd day I missed was the Narrows. Apart from that, the lack of a centrifugal villain threat, Katie Holmes wooden acting, the uttering of the word fear every 5 minutes (we get it Chris, the theme is fear), the Microwave emitter plot etc make it the weaker movie.

got some pics of some gotham Taxis...coming soon with the tragic story that will be the end of my ninjaing...

Just hoping Chris doesn't have any "Things are worse than EVer" moments this time around.

Arrested for stalking Hardy already?? My God man...

The main problem is he used extras instead of getting somewhat experienced actors for some of those scenes, like in the scene with the ferries. The lines themselves are bad though, I just wish he would get some better small time talent for those tiny roles.
