The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread - - - - - - - - - Part 35

He's definitely bigger in TDKR.

Bale was just way to skinny in TDK. They did some clever clothing work to cover it up as best as they could when he was Bruce Wayne (triple layers, puffy dress shirt, jackets, suits) along with some good angle usage. It was still pretty obvious for me though as his face was pretty gaunt.

Glad he put on some weight again for the final installment.

This Week's Cover: Our 2012 Forecast issue takes you to the set of 'The Dark Knight Rises'

In a year crowded with some of the most anticipated movies in years (The Hunger Games, The Hobbit, The Avengers, and The Amazing Spider-Man, to name just a few), The Dark Knight Rises might be the most anticipated of them all. The third and final installment in Inception director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Bat-flicks — which will once again star Christian Bale as the caped crusader and introduce Thomas Hardy as the brilliant, brutish terrorist Bane and Anne Hathaway as the purrrrfectly mercurial Selina Kyle — will swing into theaters on July 20, four years after The Dark Knight ignited a cultural sensation, grossed $533 million, and earned Heath Ledger a posthumous Oscar. The new issue of Entertainment Weekly – our annual Forecast issue, which previews the pop culture year looming ahead — goes to the Rises set and offers some insight into how Team Nolan hopes to match their previous success. “I can tell you the truth because I’m done with it: I felt immense pressure,” Christian Bale tells EW. “And I think it’s a good pressure, because you owe it to the films — and the people’s expectations — to make great work.”

We know some Batman fans want to know absolutely nothing about Rises, so much so that even the smallest bit of intel requires a SPOILER ALERT! Like the fact that the new movie returns to The Batcave (M.I.A. during The Dark Knight, as Wayne Manor was still being rebuilt following the events of Batman Begins), or that Rises takes places eight years after The Dark Knight. In fact, fans may want to revisit that second film, as Nolan tells EW that the last chapter of his cinematic saga explores the ramifications of The Dark Knight’s chilling climax, in which Batman and super-cop Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) hatch a conspiracy to cover up the sins of Gotham City’s so-called “white knight,” the late Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face (Aaron Eckhart). Nolan also discusses the potential political subtext of Rises and addresses the burning question many fans have about Bane’s mask-muffled voice: Are we going to be able to understand the guy? “I think when people see the film, things will come into focus,” says the director. “Bane is very complex and very interesting and when people see the finished film people will be very entertained by him.”

Thanks kvz5 for such a great find.

Love, love the picture.

Really hope they give us some Batcave stills. :hrt:

He looks honestly BETTER than he did in TDK; and that does not imply that he looked bad, on the contrary, Bale looked AWESOME then. From what I see in the cover, he honestly seems to FIT a lot better into the costume after really bulking out for the film. He looks more bulky and Batman like, which I am very pleased with. :woot: :hrt:

Wonderful

The TDK suit looks great as always.

Anyone else love Bale's chin? :hrt:

With age he's gotten more lines around his mouth area which makes him look more Batmanish than ever. It definitely adds character.

It's a really great picture. Not to mention his eyes look awesome here.

While I still mostly dislike the suit he does look totally badass in that pic, I really hope we get more from the article!

Bale looks to be filling out the suit more this time around, which almost gives the thing a new sort of look even though it's the same suit as before.

You were thinking that too.....? :awesome: :hrt:

Haha, yeah. I've been in love with Bale's chin ever since Batman Begins.

Definitely. He's gonna be amazing all around. :D

I wonder if this issue will feature a high res photo of Catwoman.... :hrt:

BTW I gave my local IMAX a call and it has not showed up for advanced tickets yet; I'm going to call EVERY DAY though.

The Doctor's Mightnight Premiere Operation:

-Gathering many friends and cousins for money to advance their tickets A.S.A.P. I'm racketing up quite the crowd of trustworthy fans.
-All friends have agreed to join me and dress up as my mercenary minions as I take the role of Bane and my lovely lady dressed as Talia.
-We come to the theater around 1 or 2 noon and wait until the premiere.
-Once it's time to come into the theater, we have a few friends holding seats already who will just be partaking in the event in normal fan geek shirt attire. The REST OF US will be charging and howling into the theater chanting.

It's going to be GLORIOUS. :woot: :hrt:

Very nice cover. The batsuit is looking pretty good, and little dirtied, I think.

Although what's with that look on Bale's face? It's almost like the photographer is holding up a doll trying to make him smile, and Bale is doing his best to hold it in and look away.

So you're going as Bane? That's awesome!

Lmao. It sorta does, but it doesn't detract from the epicness.

Interesting.... the cover comments about being in the Batcave..... wonder if there will be any images from the cave?

The neck in particular is thicker, which is great because there have been times where that area was rendered a bit too thin.

Oh no, agreed; Bale has adapted far better to the suit this time and seems so stick out in the places were he TRULY looks like Batman. :hrt:

Finally a EW cover that isn't trash. Streak over.

Yup! I'm going as Bane, Travis, Matt, Cristian, Christian, Ryne, Bryce, Alex, and Dario are so far coming as my mercs, my lady is hopefully going as Talia, and Amber MIGHT go as Catwoman, but we're not exactly sure.

I'm hoping to gather more people though and hop in line first about 10 hours early. :woot:
