That interrogation scene was the balls. it was so intense and when they flip on the lights and Batman is standing behind Joker - i remember saying to myself "oh ****, its about to get real now!"

They even spoiled that moment in a TV spot and I didn't care! :woot:

He was just playing good cop, Bat cop....CwutIdidthere?

So in all seriousness - it's strange to me that we've heard a few people who say they are super suprised at the direction the film/film's ending takes. I think theres a quote from Hathaway along the lines of "Oh, you're going there!? Alright..."

Any ideas/speculation on exactly what type of craziness this will entail? Keep in mind that most people are aware of Nolan's style of directing and story telling, and to have major stars be surprised by what Nolan is going to do/has done with this film indicates it will be something extremely unexpected.

Thoughts?

Batman tossing Joker around like a rag doll and the line where Joker says to him laughing:

"You have nothing, nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength"

That line was so perfect. It completely embodied the Joker's persona with one statement.

Batman dying and the audience will decide for themselves if they think Bruce is still living or not.

My favorite scene is when Bruce was contemplating in his penthouse after Rachel was blown to pieces as the scene plays out like a mirror of when Alfred was comforting Bruce after his parent's funeral in Begins. But the best part was when everything slows down and a talking pizza roll appears. It says to butcher your wife in the bathtub and to be careful not to get any blood on a carpet because it doesn't wash out.

I avoided all the tv spots for The Dark Knight, I was glad that I did that. lol

I think the last trailer I saw before I finally got to see the movie was this one:

Which was awesome because it was a little misleading. :oldrazz:

I just don't see this as causing the reaction we've seen from folks who have seen the script. This is almost what I expect to happen.

I think what Hathaway is referring to are details of the story that occur before the end of the film, and I was wondering if we had any ninjas to assist here or if anyone had a theory.

You really think that Batman 'dying' would cause someone to say, "Oh wow, you're doing THAT?!" Maybe, because it isn't typical of a CBM - but it just isn't something that would be as shocking as we've seen implied, I don't think.

There's going to be a sex scene. :oldrazz:

I love that every little "other" take of Heath's was gold. Honestly, I could watch his Joker outtakes all day, every day...

I was pretty annoyed about that =\
Same here. They actually spoiled a lot in the TV spot. Right when Gordon was presumably dead, I knew right away that he wasn't, cause there were many scenes that haven't even happened yet, that we saw in the trailers.

I just watched the prologue again and I can 100% say with confidence that the scene at the beginning with Gordon is a part of the speech he was giving at the end of TDK. You can tell by how skinny he is. Gordon/Oldman is heftier in TDKR.

Also, it looks as if Selina is who helps Bruce escape captivity.

I actually hope that Bruce breaks out of prison by himself.

Yeah, that would seem better if he does it himself.

That's a Joker who's truly crazy. The more Batman hits him the more he laughs. When Batman throws him off a building towards certain death he laughs.

Re-posting this in here since Thread Manager has struck again; In the absence of any meaty news for TDKR, I thought I'd post this great little interview with Nolan where he discusses in detail his favorite scene in TDK which is......the interrogation room scene between Batman and Joker. It's a fantastic read: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2008/10/christopher-n-1.html

Interesting bit of info in the final paragraph:

Originally, at the end of that scene, once the Joker reveals his information, Christian dropped him and then, almost as an afterthought, he kicked him in the head as he walked out of the room. We wound up removing that bit. It seemed a little too petulant for Batman in a way. And really, more than that, what it was is that I liked how Christian played it: When he drops the Joker, he has realized the futility of what he’s done. You see it in his eyes. How do you fight someone who thrives on conflict? It’s a very loose end to be left with.

I didn't know about the kick at the end and I'm very happy they removed it from the film.

One of the greatest things about the interrogation scene is the rise and fall that's played out between two dynamic characters.

Initially starting over with Batman in control but Joker undoing Batman's actions with his monologue. This followed with Batman's physical tirade against Joker and eventually being totally diffused as Joker slyly says.

"You'll have to decide soon if you want to save one of them..." the wiggling of his eyebrows saying "gotcha" silently but ever so loud.

Following that Batman's vain attempts to beat Joker into submission, to relinquish the control he's crafted so cleverly but as he punches and screams: "Where are they?" he gets more and more violent, more and more undone and Joker's proposition wavers only to pause to laugh off how futile Batman's behemoth sized punches are against his little body.

That no matter how much strength Batman can gather in that moment the battle is playing out elsewhere and in that Joker, conscious or not, live or dead, has won.

such a great scene.

I remember first seeing that scene when the movie came out. I love the part where the joker is like "look at you goo!". That part was, and still is and always will be awesome. Seeing him toy with Batman so badly, we never got anything like that with Jack Nicholson's Joker. Than he just like intentionally waits the first few times Batmans asks "WHERE ARE THEY!!?" and avoids the question just to see how far he can get Batman to go in anger.
