The Thor: Ragnarok Rotten Tomatoes/Critic's Reaction Thread - Part 1

If there are 3 rotten out of the next 32, it would be in an exact tie with IM.

Its funny - obviously everyone has their own personal taste and opinion and everything, but when you see that 202 critics like the movie, that most fans on here are gushing about it, and that most movie-goers [obviously] like the movie, you kind of look at the people giving rotten reviews and think 'wow, where are you coming from on this - did you genuinely not like the movie because your taste and opinion differs so greatly from that of the majority or are you just being contrarian?'

Those people exist and always have. There are actually rotten reviews for Casablanca, Jaws, Back to the Future.....it boggles the mind.

I have no idea how it's possible to not like this movie. "Too funny" is something I've actually heard. I mean....really? I can't comprehend that.

Well Ragnarok is outpacing it at the moment. If it needs to have no more then 3 Rotten in the next 32 Votes, then it is currently averaging a Rotten every 15.92 Votes, so for 3 Rottens it is averaging 47.78 Votes. However, the fact that it is now in the US. means that the numbers might increase, as they are typically more critical on these types of things. However, even with that being the case I think it still stands a very good chance of keeping to less then the 3 Rotten within the next 32 Votes. But I guess time will tell.

Boo birds seem to be coming out en-mass today. I guess this means this movie is no fun.
:csad:

Just kidding! I'm going to go see this tonight and plan on having a good time!! :pcg::woot:

93%. It's at this point the second best reviewed MCU movie ever. That's excellent.

Double Toasted put out their review, but I haven't gotten to watch it all yet.
[YT]h3Cl4xj2Dtw[/YT]

They liked the comedy, liked the Thor/Loki dynamic, loved Hulk and Grandmaster, didn't really talk about Valkyrie, actually didn't like Hela as a villain all that much, ad felt like the actual Ragnarok plot was rather boring/generic.

So basically the comedy was their biggest praise, whereas the actual Asgardian plot was kind of "meh" for them.

Getting closer to the end. Just marginal rather than significant drops.

You know, I feel like if you need to tear other people down to defend your own point, then you didn't have much of a point to begin with. Can we stop with the "boo birds" or "soulless monsters" nonsense please? Some people didn't like the movie as much as you did, big whoop. There are plenty of movies that other people like that I don't, but I don't begrudge them for it.

I can see why some other people wouldn't like this film. I might not agree, but I get it. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Agreed.
I have no shares in any film. Just the money I earn to pay to watch and/or buy it. No ulterior motives or agendas. I just didn't enjoy this film as much as I hoped I would, and as much as most here.

I found SO MANY parts that I genuinely loved, but the parts I didn't, really dragged it down. However, I can easily see why many people loved it to bits. I'm just not one of them.

Nail on the head. It's like exteralizing into your home sports team (Boston fans anyone? We do this obnoxiously). People take these bad reviews too personally, despite what they may say. If you need to invalidate another's opinion, well.

Based on your signature I'm sure you have no bias.
Let's hope you can be as forgiving to JL. :hehe:

I think it comes down to the fact that some people just don't like to have fun (or refuse to stoop to the level of enjoying a well made comic book comedy). Also I almost have a feeling that some critics refuse to allow a comic book movie to be reviewed as one of the best movies of the year, no matter how good it is.

They're just soulless pricks...

I'm sorry but that's all that can be said about them.

>posts incessantly on a backwater superhero forum, cheering on in maddening fervor some nonexistent, self-fabricated campaign to drive one of six hundred-million-costing tentpole films produced this year by a multinational conglomerate intended to maximize consumption of four-dollar toys to overtake a meaningless statistic that has absolutely no bearing on their enjoyment of the product whatsoever
>angrily accosts critics of having agendas and wonders why they can't be neutral like themselves

Great posting.

A reminder to everyone.....if you see a post that you know will get someone banned....like say, a link to bootlegged movies.....how damn stupid is it to quote that post with the link, and thus be posting a bannable post yourself? Answer....pretty damn stupid.

Indeed

I was watching Brad Jones from Channel Awesome's review and, well lets just say that it won't make some people happy. But, he has a point (even if I don't agree with everything that he says).

It was an accident C. Lee.

I meant to hit "reply" not "quote" then turned away to finish some work so didn't notice my error. Sorry for being "DAMN STUPID".
