Today's reveal is the Laughing Mask. This guy's pretty creepy. Sort of like a Joker/V for Vendetta design.

This laughing mask definately has some feel of Rorschach (yea, misspelled I know). A lot of the others have or at least seem to have some personality parrallels to it as well. Not to mention the whole idea of these people being out of their element and time and trying to catch up. Betcha almost anything that the "killer" as indicated by the releases turns out to be one of their own as well.

Yes and no, I think from the way JMS is explained this so far it will be modeled after watchmen in a few ways. The idea of misplaced heros, a killer in their midst, past vs. present values and morals.

I hope it is pretty different, but my mind definately goes to watchmen as the inspiration for this kind of idea.

There were no misplaced heroes in Watchmen. A couple of retired heroes, sure, but I don't think that's a proper parallel. Also not so much on the past vs present values and morals either.

Amadeus Cho is himself the reinvention. Mastermind Excello is a very, very old Golden Age character from one of the companies that would eventually become Marvel.
