The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 16 "Last Day on Earth" Discussion Thread

That sucked. I really hope it's no one important. None of the core characters should go out on a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed this episode. I'm not a comic reader, but I've known about Negan's character for a while, what he does, etc. I felt the full force of his presence, and it was magnificent. Fantastic.

As for the cliffhanger, yeah that's annoying, but it's a smart move. Now they'll have everyone guessing who it was for 6 long long long months.

Personally....

I don't think it will be Glenn. It would a huge copout to simply go the way of the comcis after setting up such a huge cliffhanger. They're going a different route, I'm thinking it's Daryl.

Maybe the show has worn me down but I don't have a problem with the cliffhanger. Many shows have ended seasons with huge cliffhangers like this and managed to live up to them. But then again, there's also been a lot that haven't. The quality of this choice is really determined by next season, particularly the season opener. If they don't nail that then it will be for naught. And with this show it could go either way.

Prepare for a trailer focused on Rick, Carl, Enid, and Father Gabriel.

I'll bet you absolutely anything that the first trailer for next season is that zoomed in shot of Rick's terrified face from tonight's episode with a voice over from Negan and possible cuts to Lucille beating an unseen person to a bloody pulp.

As someone said earlier... A major character death (if its a major character) being a cliffhanger is a crock of ****. Thats it? really? thats how we kill glenn? or daryl? or maggie?

They really squandered the impact. When we find out now it'll be totally anti-climactic.

Watch it not be one of the Atlanta 5.

I'd like to give a shoutout to Bear McCreary for the music in this episode. The scene where Eugene takes the RV had the most emotional music the series has ever had.

*****, *****, *****. That's all anyone on this site does anymore.

Great finale. Perfectly fine with the cliffhanger.

Hey everyone... Steyin is 'that guy'... that snail guy who is acting the same as what "anyone ever does on this site anymore."

Like I said earlier. Still a great episode. And that last like 10 minutes is pure gold. JDM as Negan is prefect. I listened to the leaked audio the other day, but the visuals make it so much more impactful. I love how close to the comic Negan's intro was too. Like I said also I even enjoy the POV of the victim stuff. But the **** up was not telling us or showing us who it was Negan chose. And that's on the show runners. And their ******** excuses and non sense that they spewed on the talking dead which was just pitiful.

All the build up, no pay off. Not going to deal with this next season. I'll read about it whenever the season premires in the fall since I sure as hell am not going to watch it anymore.

Strangely enough my brother pointed out to me that the music in that particular scene borrowed from this cue from T3.

It sounds very similar.

I was so invested in who was going to die tonight and Negan's arrival and it all went out the window in the last thirty seconds now I couldn't care less who is dead you could tell me it's Rick and I'd go whatever all the tension and hype was building to Negans arrival and the finale and they blew it and I consider it pretty much a wasted season I mean what really happened this year nothing this show has totally failed it's fans with this slop tonight

Loved the episode aside from that effing lame cliffhanger.

Ok apart from the absolutely infuriating tease of a cliffhanger, the episode itself was great. Not to mention Jeffrey Dean Morgan completely owned it as Negan. Getting to see him alone was worth it. He had me mesmerized and on the edge of my seat for those last ten minutes.

The Saviors were truly a force to be reckoned with. The way they had every road blocked was honestly unnerving. And that whistling thing they did when they were cornering someone was creepy as hell.

I get why everyone is so peeved at the cliffhanger. It ticked me off big time, too. But the good stuff in this episode outweighs it for me. It was a real treat to finally meet Negan. JDM was everything I'd hoped he be. I also have to give credit to Andrew Lincoln in those final few minutes. Subtle but great acting from him even though he barely said a word, because he looked absolutely petrified the whole time Negan was talking. Real raw look of fear on his face that helped sell the scene. Never saw Rick that scared before.

Andrew Lincoln was fantastic in this episode, especially at the end.

Joker well said you basically summed it up for me. And also Joker and Lennie you both nailed it. Rick at the end of this episode looked for the first time in a while, and rightfully so, scared ****less. Andrew Lincoln nailed it. It was the perfect compliment to JDM amazing performance as Negan. To see Rick this scared, unsure and worried again next to Negan was exactly what I wanted. Because it's exactly what the comics did and they portrayed that perfectly.

A fantastic finale with a lame as f*** cliffhanger. We already had one this season.

:down

Well, there was a leaked audio clip of the ending. I analyzed it and tweaked around with it a bit and based on what I've heard well, this is what I take from it.

The name Daryl is heard shouted by someone and it sounds like a voice that matches Rick. After hearing "Daryl!" very clearly, I hear others screaming "Darylll!!! Daryl! Daryl!"

PM for details.
