The Wrestling Thread is now nothing but recaps from last week - Part 71

Big Show already ended Clay's streak back in June.

Yes.

Notice how on one of their "Let's Overinflate our Ego" otherwise known as "Did You Know" that they mentioned NBC this time.

i noticed that, wwe loves patting themselves on the back with those "Did you know" graphics

i often question how legit some of these facts are

I use this thread to keep up with WWE without having to sit through it. I gave up a couple of months ago, but I was hoping that there would be someone with some positive thoughts. I know I'm cynical that the McMahons' ego has hurt the company too much, but when some of you long time guys see something positive it opens up interesting discussion. With everyone besides kids too young to know good quality hates the product it's really sad. I know that wrestling goes in cycles, but this is ridiculous.

I just read the recap of Raw and it doesn't come off very good, sounds like the show dragged on and nothing was really accomplished.

That's what happens when your boss is a nutcase with rage issues.

The show wasn't that bad. I hate this Punk storyline though, so it's souring me on WWE. The boring Tripe H/Lesnar stuff over the past few weeks doesn't help matters either.

I'm watching some of it now. The opening with Brock and Heyman was great but knowing he quits later in the show just kills it.

Brock's next step should be towards the title. Instead he claims to have accomplished everything he needed to. How does that make sense?

Also the pandering to Triple H on twitter/social media is sickening. The only other match to get as much hype would probably be Cena vs Rock at Wrestlemania. I like hyping a match but it looks ridiculous when they only do it for one person.

It's the WWE, they don't know what "make sense" is.

I wish a miracle would happen and TNA suddenly gets much higher ratings/more fans/known within main stream!

Even when I thought TNA were at it's worst(2007 and when Hogan&Bichoff came in)I felt it deserved ratings at least close to Smackdown and now that I feel it's doing amazingly I feel they should be beating Raw,I don't care about ratings But I want TNA to finally be successful and really be a close rival to WWE than #2 by default,Not necessarily WCW big But just BIGGER!

Big enough to see people like Aries/Roode/Storm&AJ on talk shows and guest host on big TV shows,I want a new TNA console video game damn it!!

Punk doesn't seem into this whole whiny heel turn angle. It kind of feels like he's going through the motions.

That was a good interview with Shawn Michaels. If they plan to do Triple H vs HBK next year I can see the storyline being Shawn telling Triple H to retire.

Does anyone plan to buy the WWE Best Finishing Moves dvd/blu ray? I'm tempted.

Also does anyone think Fozzy ( Jericho's band ) will perform for WWE during their tour. Jericho being a sore loser was comical. I'm no even sure that was a heel turn but hopefully this means he will return sometime next year.

Ugh. No, Punk's turn just isn't working. He's just not a bad guy. He's totally justified in everything he says and does. And yet he's portrayed as the villain.

For example, him kicking Lawler in the head is supposed to be the dastardly deed that makes us boo him. But just stop and think for a second. Lawler did say that Punk has turned his back on the WWE Universe after he attacked the Rock. And I mean, what, really?! If there was ever a man who is the epithome of turning your back to the WWE Universe, that's the Rock, not Punk who busts his ass for the company day in and day out. Punk has every moral right to be pissed off at Lawler who totally deserved the kick for what he said.

And Cena, acting like he's the better man. Hello? Punk has made a career out of beating John Cena. Why should I buy that suddenly he has something to prove against him?

The worst part is that apparently all of this is simply because apparently Cena needs another title run. Punk is portrayed like the whining heel so John-boy's inevitable victory seems even greater. The irony is that for everyone with just a little bit of knowledge about wrestling Punk isn't really a heel.

Because every time Punk beat Cena, there was always some controversy to the finish. He has yet to do what The Rock did: defeat Cena straight up.

And with Night of Champions coming up, the roles are reversed from last year's Money In The Bank. CM Punk is now the one walking into enemy territory with the WWE Championship.

This storyline is catered to the casuals,They eat this up and by next week or so expect Punk to get major heat by large amounts of the crowds,Look up casual fans comments right now on WWE.com chats/WWE Facebook page&WWE Twitter pages!!

lol that's not enemy territory, cena gets booed by half the crowd with or without his boston accent

Cena as a face is such a joke. He gets audible booes in Massachusetts, now thats just sad.

I agree, he hasn't gotten much love since SummerSlam 2006, but Boston's weird with him. I remember them being on his side for Survivor Series 2008 when he defeated Jericho to win the World Heavyweight Title for the first time (although the way they promoted his return with that sappy song made it seem like it was going to be his last match or something, lol).

Then earlier this year, he got almost half of the audience to turn on The Rock, but I recall he was being serious during that segment if I'm not getting them mixed up.

It's like one year they hate him then the next year, not so much.

It's comical because the WWE Universe are portrayed as mindless sheep who are told how to react by the announce team every week.

Anyone who steps outside the bubble is considered a "smark" and treated like a heel. It's ridiculous.

I'm wondering if Punk's recent issues with fans played into this heel turn. If not it should of been Cena to turn. It's not like they couldn't market Punk.

I'm a former Bostonian and remember most of us trying to boo him out of the building. Several people cheered when Orton attacked his father (RAW show in 2007).

Then last year his accent suddenly got thicker during his feud with Punk. They've made all sorts of desperate attempts to get him over with everyone. It only worked with the Rock because he earned it by being a better performer.

They would never market Punk as face of the company anyway. He's not what McMahon likes. Ryback will be the heir apparent to Cena; Vince reportedly loves the guy.
