The changing backdrop and he's got the belt for some reason.
Bang. Hit the nail right there. It's probably my biggest concern as an outcome of the draft in WWE too.
...that ***** was straight out of the Attitude Era.
And I LOVED IT!!!!
This New Day vs. The Wyatt Family feud is awesome.
Compare it to Matt & Jeff Hardy's Final Deletion match
The audience tends to respond to these kind of anti-heroish/morally grey type of characters (and not just in wrestling, but in other media as well). I mentioned Stone Cold, but you could also throw The Rock, Eddie Guerrero, Mick Foley's various personas, The Undertaker, and even Sasha Banks in there as well.
Also Samoa Joe got lots of cheers in TNA despite technically playing a heel, and Asuka has lots of fans in NXT right now as well.
The thing that has people groaning about Dean right now is how comedic his face character is while supposedly being this nutjob who is really dangerous. As much as I love the guy, he doesn't have the badass cred that Austin had before hugging McMahon and wearing cowboy hats, or Mick Foley before turning into Dude Love and funny Mankind He didn't work in visable companies when he was the sick twisted hardcore guy.
