Sounds like you could do with a replacement 4K player then, be that the X1X or a better standalone. From what you’ve described there doesn’t seem much point in hanging on to the one you’ve got.

yeah, I mean it works and serves its function. and I got it on sale, cheaper than the S.

but still, for that money, I expect a little bit more and a more satisfying experience, y'know?

especially with the audio. Maybe I'm just getting used to my TV speakers, but when I first got my 4K TV and the S, I was impressed by the richer sounds, the "booming" bass, etc. I don't know if that was the TV, or the S, or that I've just gotten more used to it.

but the sound from this standalone player, or even my Pro, just doesn't seem to stand out like that. and this standalone player is supposed to have "hi-def" audio, but it doesn't sound any better to me........lol.

Are you still listening with the same output device? Same TV?

^ yep.

anyways, I just wish Digital Foundry would hurry up and do a Shadow of War comparison vid between the Pro and X, now that the game is out.

well, boo!! Another mark against the Xbox in terms of supported game franchises.

Blazblue Cross Tag is one of my most anticipated titles for next year. I had been waiting for platform(s) confirmation, and today it was officially announced for PS4, Switch, and PC.

but no Xbox. :(

I admit, something like this does make me lean further against getting the X and just sticking with PS4 and Switch this gen. This is yet another Japanese dev franchise not coming to Xbox, and I place more value on that than the extra power of the X.

clearly, there's no excuse that even the base Xbox can't run this game if it's releasing on Switch. It's just that Xbox still isn't widely supported by Japanese devs, despite recent trends with Code Vein, Sword Art Online, etc.

I was holding out hope Blazblue Cross Tag would also come to Xbox, but alas......no. :(

Oh sorry to hear.

yeah. that was one of my outstanding decision "factors" that I had been waiting on. The X has the power advantage, but Xbox overall lacks the game variety. And of the 2, for me, the latter is more important - Blazblue Cross Tag just further proves that point.

And in January, Arcade mode finally comes ( home ) to SF V, making it finally feel like a complete game. And that's yet another game that's not on Xbox. The new Spider-Man game isn't coming to Xbox, either. Same with smaller indie titles like Lost Sphear and Icey on PS4 and Switch, but not Xbox. And so on. It all starts to add up.

the next important factor will be Digital Foundry comparisons for Shadow of War and ACO between X and Pro.

if those videos don't show much of a noticeable difference between X and Pro versions, then I think that will be the deciding point as to whether or not I get the X.

Big update for the X1 today. Dashboard should be getting a significant upgrade.

Will be great to watch the comparisons even just to see more of those 2 great looking games lol. I'll also be interested how they compare to the pc performance.

oh, nice. have you tried out the new dash yet?

is your custom image background still "dimmed" in the new dash? did they add an option to adjust the brightness/dimness of your custom background?

hopefully we get a SOW comparison vid soon.

No I can't get on X1 for a few days as have some stuff to finish on 360 before it goes down forever!

^oh, ok.

but why is the 360 going down forever? is MS not supporting it anymore?

or are you just packing up/selling/giving yours away?

No, just some EA games where the servers area going down.

3 weeks left!!

ah, gotcha!!

well, when you do go back on X1, could you please check out the new dashboard and see if the custom background image is still dimmed or if they added an option to control the dimness/brightness of the background image?

I'd really appreciate that if you could check.

thanks.

Ok sure, remind me if I forget. :yay:

^ interesting article, zenith.

if that's true, that policy needs to change, imo. maybe with Phil reporting directly to MS CEO now, it will.

cuz that is an issue I have with MS/Xbox.

I get some of these Japanese Dev titles are niche, and some are so niche they don't appeal to me. but it's all about variety and choice. especially when you are lacking in your own AAA exclusive games.

And it's not even about PS exclusive games. Look at Blazblue Cross Tag. That's not even a PS exclusive. It's a multiplat game that's coming to all platforms EXCEPT Xbox.

and that's the part that bugs me the most, even more so if I only owned an Xbox. With the "most powerful console" coming out in a few short weeks, and a multiplat game gets released on Switch but not your console, that's not good.

so, hopefully they change that policy and approach.
