Amazing they pulled this off.

I do wonder how many titles they will actually make compatible though.

Thank God this isn't Nintendo.

So this backwards compatibility thing. I put in a disc and it downloads the game, and the game is not emulated via the disc? I'm assuming I need a disc in the machine to play the game though, right? Or can I raid GameStop and buy a bunch of 360 games, download them, and then return?

I assume the disc has to be in the console for the game to work.

You have to keep the disc in, it just installs on your HDD, just like you did with the 360 or X1.

And I figured out how to install some of my Arcade games. DLing Super Meat Boy, Perfect Dark 64 HD, and Battleblock Theater. This is so cool!

are the 360 game install file sizes much smaller than X1 games?

Oh yeah, they're MUCH smaller. Most X1 games are around 45gb, 360 games are around 4-7gb max. Small games like Super Meat Boy are even smaller. I don't even think a full gb?

thanks. that's good to hear.

what about bigger titles like Mass Effect or Skyrim?

would those still be around 4-7gb max? or would they be bigger?

Mass Effect was 7. I think Skyrim was somewhere around 4-5.

really? well that's good to hear that these 360 titles won't be huge files.

cuz that would just eat up more space on the hdd.

Do you mean that you've already installed 360 stuff on to your X1? As in this is already working?

It's up for a limited amount of titles for Xbox Preview members.

I think this may be a game changer.

Yeah, it's for Preview members right now, and it'll come out to the public in the fall.

You can sign up to be a preview member, but it can take 1-2 weeks for it to clear. I think it took me about 2 full weeks for me to finally get in. Might as well try.

I had 10+ people text me today while I was at work who were literally on their way to get an Xbox One because of that announcement. Multiply that by.. I dunno? Millions maybe?

I'd say game changer.

Oh right.

I just downloaded everything from last gen onto an external hard drive. Wonder if I'd have to redownload all those again onto X1 or separate X1 hard drive or if I could use them directly.

It's probably not a game changer
Full BC would probably make me go out and buy all the systems (as was the original plan). If BC was guaranteed for all future consoles I'd probably keep the latest version of each and continously trade up.
