Is this the Xbox Preview Program or is that something separate? I just got an invite to it.

Probably the preview program. You can either be invited by friends or MS themselves.

Oh right, I was probably invited by a friend then. Will check it out.

That's an understatement!

welll what about the rest of the world then? lol
US is getting close and Japan is not a contest at all. Europe is an area where they should have at least been competitive but are getting trounced.

Ultimate Game Sale coming, starts July 7th. 40-50% off, Gold members will get up to an additional 10% off. Several big titles shown in the video, including Mortal Kombat, Fry Cry, Titanfall, Shadow of Mordor, and Ori.

I don't think the penny has dropped on digital sales yet that you can get them all at that price or lower physically any time (and can resell and get the same amount back if you're done with it quickly enough). Steam understood digital pricing and have been successful as a result.

He's saying you can still buy physical for cheaper, and when you're done, go and sell it back for close to what you bought it for.

And it's true, you can still find physical games cheaper if you go onto Amazon or ebay.

Okay...I mean, it's not untrue or anything, but I don't know what it has to do with this sell.

I'm pretty sure he's saying you can still buy for cheaper, even with the sale, and I agree.

Take for instance Far Cry 4. I can go onto Amazon right now, and buy a brand new copy for $20. With this sale of "up to 50% off", and add another "up to 10% off for Gold Members", you're still looking at $24 for Far Cry 4, and that's if you get up to the full 60% off. Also, like he mentioned, you can sell your physical copy once you're done.

I'm definitely looking into Ori, though. It's digital only, and I've been wanting to pay that game. I hope it's cheap.

Okay, well, I guess I should put the disclaimer, "For those who are interested," before it, I dunno

I'm mainly looking at Ori, hoping it'll be half off. I'll buy it for $10.

I don't think he's discounting your post, he's just saying.

And I edited my post above saying the same thing about Ori. I really want that game.

I need to hire you as my official translator

I'm interested in getting all of those games (apart from TitanFall which I have) but with my backlog I'll be getting them very cheaply by the time I get around to them. One or 2 might even have been on GWG by then.

can you take advantage of that sale and buy digital games like Ori from the Xbox.com site?

or can you only buy from a console?

You can definitely buy from the site, but you have to wait till the 7th.

But I would assume you have to have some kind of account, though.

Yeah, you have to have a Live account, but you can use the same one you had for 360 if you had a 360. I guess you could also just create one online, too, I don't know.

thanks.

I do have a MS/Xbox account, so maybe I'll take advantage of this sale for games like Ori, depending on the discount.

y'know.......to prepare..........just in case........

Unless you actually know you'll get a Xbox One, I really don't know why you'd throw away money like that. It's your money, though.

well, I'll have to see if I have any money left on my Live account, and I'm pretty sure I have an unused Live money card lying around somewhere.

since I don't have a 360 or X1 anymore, and since I can't convert that Live money back to cash, it is kind of sitting there anyways right now.

so, if the discounts are good, then why not take advantage of the sale and put that Live money to use. in case I do get an X1 again in the future.

I mean.....these digital games don't expire, right?

No, the games themselves don't expire. I think the codes do, though, so you might want to check and see if all of those cards lying around have.
