What titles would be good? I don't like FPSs too much, so Halo, CoD (I liked it for a while), and Modern Warfare are not for me.
For starters Mass Effect 1-3, GTA 4 & 5, Red Dead, Skyrim, Gears of War, Fallout 3 & New Vegas, Bioshock 1-3, all the Arkhams, most of the Assassin's Creeds (2 is a must). There's absolutely loads of top quality games from last gen, do you have any genre preferences?

Edit: ignore Bioshock (it's 1st person)

Platformers are my fave. And I play Arkham on my PC.

Platformers on the 360:

Super Meat Boy
Splosion Man
Ms. Splosion Man
Mega Man 9&10
Battleblock Theater

Those should get you started.

I dont want to get into VR.. but that E3 demo was so damn impressive...

Finally bought Ori and the MCC with the Summer sale discount. Ori is awesome so far (amazing soundtrack with a prologue right in the feels) and I can't wait to dive back into the Halo campaigns one more time. This (plus my PC backlog) should hold me over til Gears at the end of August.

Good suggestions there. Sorry I won't be of much use here as I've gone off platformers a bit since my Nintendo days. And of course I forgot you can play the multiplats on your pc anyway. I will be upgrading my (already decent) gaming pc to a beast after Windows 10 and will probably do that myself, especially if I can stay in touch with Xbox friends while playing and if they have cross-buy and cross-play as claimed.

Microsoft has $500K in prize money for HoloLens science projects

Microsoft wowed me a few weeks ago with its internal HoloLens programs, but like we've seen with Kinect, the coolest uses aren't always the ones Redmond devised. To help make more applications a reality, the tech giant has opened up what it's calling the Academic Research Request for Proposals. Five awards -- each including $100,000 and two HoloLens development kits -- will go to accredited universities and be announced this October 6th. The official reasoning here is that Microsoft wants to "better understand the role and possible applications for holographic computing in society." So, to see what people outside of the Redmond campus think augmented reality is capable of. Got it. Other objectives include spurring research for mixed reality and generally getting more people to make holograms. A few examples the company lays out are data visualizations (similar to Epic Games) and creating 3D models for medical training.

Are any of the wired contollers good? I saw them at a store where some were Star Wars themed and others were cheap colored see through looking ones. I want a 2nd controller and don't mind a cheaper priced wired one since I'm not far the console and don't need a pro controller. The Star Wars ones and other themed types look cool but just want to know if they last well

I've got one that isn't too good, a cheap Street fighter one. Also got one that has loads of extra functions but the thumbsticks are too long for my liking.

I use plug and play with regular controllers quite often though whenever I get low on battery.

Microsoft’s AR headset, HoloLens, won’t initially be for gaming, CEO Satya Nadella has explained. While Minecraft has featured prominently in demonstrations and marketing, the first version of the device is going to be more about “developers and enterprise scenarios,” he said.

Of course Hololens isn't going to be just for games. Microsoft envisioned this thing to potentially replace current computing devices (or at least marketing it to). So instead of using your PC or tablet around the house, you just plop on your Hololens and use that instead.

****loads of potential. Could be a fair while before it gets real momentum though. Will be interesting to watch developments on it.

Edge: Is the parity clause dead now?

Spencer: I think so. There's this idea that's been named 'parity clause', but there is no clause. We've come out and been very transparent in the last four or five months about exactly what we want.

If there's a developer who's building a game and they just can't get the game done for both platforms - cool. We'll take a staggered release. We've done it before, and we work with them on that. If another platform does a deal with you as a developer to build an exclusive version of your game for them, and you can't ship on my platform for a year, when the game comes out in a year let's just work together to make it special in some way. People complained about that, but you did a deal with somebody else and you got paid for it and I'm happy - we do those same deals, so I'm not knocking you. It's going to be better for you, actually, because people don't want last year's game, they want something special and new.

Maybe an odd question, but I'm wondering, whenever you uninstall a game, the save remains I know, but is there a way to access that? Just curious, because it seems like it just vanishes. Is it just saved to the cloud or is it somewhere on the console still?

Ah, okay. Don't know why you wouldn't just leave that on the console, but is what it is, I guess.

so, MS reports their earnings in about 30 minutes from now.

will be interesting to see what their X1 sales are.

hopefully it will be a good number.

Ah, okay. Don't know why you wouldn't just leave that on the console, but is what it is, I guess.

I thought it was also still on the console, but you just couldn't access the saves because the game itself was uninstalled.

hopefully with the switch to the 10 and the new UI, that also brings with it a better save management system.

I think you should be able to access your save files even if the game file has been uninstalled. and you should be able to back up the save files to a usb stick or at least an external hdd.

With Xbox getting Windows 10 isn't it essentially a weak gaming PC?
