Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 1

Cate Blanchett would make an amazing Hela. I could see someone more like Natalie Dormer doing a good job at playing Enchantress.

Ugh. Natalie Dormer has a really odd face and strange-looking mouse smirk. Often she doesn't even look all that attractive when she does that expression, which is quite often.

I think Enchantress has to look really alluring and beautiful to actually entice men.

Why did Cate turn down WW but go for Thor? Hmmm lemme see, uhhh...

BECAUSE SHE HAS GREAT TASTE?

:)

Who will she play? She doesn't really seem tall enough for Valkyrie, and too old for both her and Enchantress.

Height can easily be faked with camera tricks and perspective shots.

Haven't been here for a few days and that was some nice things to come back to.

Really cool fight scene between Thor and Vision. I totally get why they didn't use it but I wish they could have found some way to put it in there in some form. This scene is already shorter than what Jon Schnepp saw filmed since that included Thor throwing the hammer and Vision catching it and throwing it back (which is cool, but not as good of a way to establish that part as what they actually used in the movie). I love seeing Thor fight expertly unarmed, and with a style that differs from the humans that have less power.

News that Cate Blanchett might be in Thor: Ragnarok is even cooler. She's a fantastic actress and whatever role they have for her she will shine in, I'm sure. Hela seems the most immediate choice as she's a bit too old for roles like Valkyrie or Enchantress, although they could of course easily change those characters to fit her age (she still looks gorgeous).

If she joins it's almost a bit of a shame that Branagh isn't directing since Cate has stated that she's never been directed better than by Branagh in Cinderella.

I didn't know I could dislike a response/sum up a person so much by one post. I'll happily disagree with both of the points you made though. I think both could be interesting in the roles. Alice Eve would also be a great Enchantress too.

My love for cate went through the roof omg. Make it happen marvel and while ur at it get eva green too😄

Cate would be a fantastic edition to the MCU.

Anyone think that whoever they cast as Valkyrie would be one of the fan cast favs for Carol Danvers?

Wow... That's quite the catch. Nice to see someone like Cate in a CBM, though as was pointed out, she's done the LOTR films, though I guess that's got classic literature cache'.

As talented as she is I can't see her as Valkyrie or Enchantress. Hela however? Yeah. I mean:[YT]spHEw2n9LwE[/YT]

C'mon... She would look great in whatever outfit they came up with and she can do a regal goddess of the dead in her sleep.

For anyone here who watches the show Vikings, what would you say about Alyssa Sutherland?

Is her performance on the show well regarded?

Could she be a decent choice for Valkyrie?

Wow wouldn't think Cate could be in the MCU hope she joins! Loved her in the LOTR and Hobbit Films

It would be weird to see someone from Vikings cast as Valkyrie that wasn't Katheryn Winnick, lol.

She has the look, but she isnt a warrior on the show, so it's hard to say. She is pretty good, though.

urgh, no? Dormer is stunningly beautiful, sorry to disagree with you on that.
But, she's already in the MCU having played Pvt. Lorraine in TFA. If she plays the Enchantress that would certainly shine a new light on that scene (and her failed attempt to seduce Steve)

Or they could just easily ignore that since there have been many instances of reusing actors in TV and movies in different roles and most people don't give a crap. I doubt most but the most nit picky of the audience would care or notice if Dormer were to get a part in the MCU.

Cate Blanchett is hands down my most favorite of actresses at the moment [and has been for a few years]; I'm made up just that she's part of this, let alone with the prospect of her being Hela, which is the most probable role for her, in my mind.

Additionally, I'd like to throw my support in relation to Dormer as Enchantress - not only is she a good actress but she's also go that sexy, flirty, scheming, manipulative quality that an actress playing Amora needs.

Too bad, that the fight between Thor and Vision was not in the final movie.
Was not a great idea to cut "Age of Ultron" - they should have let it like Whedon wanted it!

Winnick (blue) or Sutherland (red)?

:hmm

Blue. Unless we're casting people based on height now. ;)

That said, I don't have a particular desire to see anyone from Vikings in the role. I'm just saying Winnick has been a standout on the show from the beginning, so if anyone from it made the jump to the MCU, especially as a blonde female warrior, I'd expect it to be her.

Age of Ultron was basically all Whedon's movie, that's why it wasn't as liked as the more mainstream first movie. Besides, the fight wasn't that well-choreographed and doesn't match the following conversation in the movie,so it was a good call ti cut it imo.

Blanchett is simply awesome, just hope her role is large and great. MCU has tended to waste a lot of good actors but Blanchett is on another level.

Yeah, hopefully they'll actually give her sufficient screentime/interesting stuff to do. Given that they STILL have yet to do that with the Asgardian cast, and that they completely wasted Christopher Eccleston last time, I'm going to be cautious for now. My guess is, she's playing Hela.

Yeah, no it wasn't. If anything, it was LESS. Marvel stuck him with even more mandates and made him add in even more set-up for future films (which is why it felt more overstuffed at times).
