blanchett is arguably the best actress on the planet right now, huge coup for marvel

she'd make a perfect hela for sure, or maybe they'll just go all out and have her be death

Yeah, hopefully they'll actually give her sufficient screentime/interesting stuff to do. Given that they STILL have yet to do that with the Asgardian cast, and that they completely wasted Christopher Eccleston last time, I'm going to be cautious for now. My guess is, she's playing Hela.

Yep, hopefully, it would be a shame to waste her extreme talent.

Yeah, no it wasn't. If anything, it was LESS. Marvel stuck him with even more mandates and made him add in even more set-up for future films (which is why it felt more overstuffed at times).

 plenty of the faults with AOU lay at the feet of Marvel, that wasn't all Joss at all.

I do hope Blanchet joins Ragnarok! That's awesome!

I've pushed Blanchett as Hela for years. She's the best. Don't want to get too excited yet but I'll be very pleased if this happens.

Hey,that's what he said multiple times,I didn't make it up.

calling it now... Kate is going to end up being Hela... and they're going to shake it up a bit.. instead of being Loki's daughter... Hela will be his Mother.

wouldn't honestly shocked me if they merged Hela and Enchantress into one character either...

I love Amora to death... but cinematically.. she's just a female loki who adds seduction into the mix.. and that's about it...

Except that they have very different motivations, personalities. Really the only thing that they have in common is that they're manipulators. And besides, Marvel has shown that they have NO problem changing characters from the source material. For example, Malekith in TDW is pretty much nothing like comic book Malekith.

Well I've heard his thoughts on the matter multiple times as well, and I've seen the movie. And it's pretty clear, that ain't true. It was probably just him being diplomatic.

She may be playing both. I could see Loki and Hela replacing Mephisto and Death in the Avengers: Infinity War adaptation of the Infinity Gauntlet story line.

I certainly don't agree there. Plenty of Whedon mannerisms in AoU, not least in the Banner-Widow story and the Cabin scenes, that are common issues to see brought up.

I don't buy your later comment about him being diplomatic either since he clearly hasn't been. On the contrary he's been unusually open with what he didn't like, especially how the whole deal around the Norn scene went down. Seems more like you're projecting your dislike where you want it.

isn't that supporting my point? Mother of Loki and sort of a combo between Hela and Enchantress?

Damn, another flop for Hemsworth this weekend, at this point he should be begging Fiege to do Thor movies for the next decade.

Don't you mean another flop for Ron Howard?
I've yet to see the Whale film

Yeah I think Hems needs a new agent, and Howard needs to pick more interesting topics

Has Hemsworth had a single hit other than the MCU? Star Trek notwithstanding. Snow White movie I guess?

As that's getting a sequel, more focused on him than before as well, that has to be seen as his biggest non-Marvel success in that regard.

As for getting general praise as an actor I guess Rush is his top film.

Yeah I heard he was great in Rush, and the whole movie was apparently quite good
sadly, a movie about 70's era F1 racing, not the biggest money maker
probably did gangbusters in Monaco

I loved that movie.

I actually ended up liking Daniel Bruhl more than Chris Hemsworth which is weird because I have never heard of Bruhl before and we all know Hemsworth.

It was a complicated feeling, but by the end of the film, I came to admire both actors. Such a great film and Daniel Bruhl is the guy.

Just saw In the Heart of the Sea this weekend. Loved it. Fantastic film. Hemsworth, Holland and the rest of the cast were great. Coming in knowing the story of the Essex, the film was everything I hoped it would be. I'm extremely disappointed by the lackluster reviews.

Loved the movie as well...
Its lackluster performance was due to Studio interference, it was brilliantly marketed back before the original March release and then suddenly out of the blue they push it forward all the way to December WTF!!!! and it basically fell of the planet market wise..
All this so they could go for an Oscar nod...and a then a week before Star Wars....WTH!!!!
Someone needs fired....

I liked the movie,Hems and Holland were great. Can't wait to see them interact in the MCU.

Still tho Hems hasn't directed or produced any of them lol
So only directors and producers can have flops? If you're the lead and the face of the project, it's your flop too, imo.

Yeah the studio's move there is puzzling. I wish they had kept the March release date. But the critics seem surprisingly ignorant on this one. They keep comparing the movie to Moby Dick. It wasn't an adaptation of Moby Dick. It's wasn't trying to be Moby Dick. It wasn't trying to delve into the same themes of spirituality as Melville's masterpiece. The movie was telling the true story upon which Moby Dick was based. These guys are criticizing the film for something it isn't. Not the first time they've done this which is why critic scores are becoming increasingly irrelevant to me.
