Thought he was part of the FF deal?

EDIT: OK, now I'm confused - after doing some digging not only am I doubting the Surfer thing but I can't even find any confirmation of Marvel getting the FF rights back. Did it actually happen or was it just rumour???

Rumour,but it's not that far-fatched.

Well, we can have the discussion about what Fox wants to do and what Marvel should do when the rights revert seven years from now. Until then, there's not much point speculating on that.

Fox may want a Sony deal, in order to retain rights, but get much needed help....maybe.

Yeah Brian, it was only assumed Fox would loose the rights for the FF franchise after that last major failure. Many people were assuming Fox would somehow trade the rights back for more X-Men related rights

Found a Mjolnir metal model kit at Barnes and Noble. There's also a Cap's Shield, Iron Man and War Machine

There were loads of sites reporting around October that Marvel were getting the rights back and it seems they were inaccurate.

Sadly.

There were a lot of places making assumptions based on fanboy logic at the time but the more trusted and accurate trades were pretty mum on the subject. It's a bit moot since it's quite likely FOX will not be making any new FF films so the reversion in film rights is going to play out as it's supposed to and then Marvel will have to decide how to recoup any value from FF after Fox has tried 3 times to make something really profitable from the first family of Marvel.

There have been no announced deals and I believe the rumors were denied. But the lack of success with Fantastic Four combined with Marvel giving Fox TV rights certainly led to optimism.

Well, if that's a hint, then I'd lean towards Valkyrie

Amora and Hela aren't exactly known for punching people

I wouldn't read too much into that other than it strongly indicates that negotiations haven't broken down. I still think she's playing Hela which IMO would be the best use of her as an actress. Nothing against her age (she's beautiful) but I don't think she's young enough for Amora and is too frail to play Valkyrie.

Personally, I think she could be playing Amora.

Ragnarok is like a war, There's AMPLE punching from everyone not to mention a bit of hack and slash

Sounds awesome. I've definitely been more interested in seeing Cate in one of the speculated villain roles than any of the heroic ones, and I'm still very enamored with the idea of her playing Hela and it linking into the embodiment of death in Infinity War in some way.

So if we have Hela in Ragnarok, Surtur HAS to make an appearance. They've got to put him in there, it'd be a slap to Thor fans

I'm still expecting Surtur. In fact, I suspect he's more likely to be a final "boss" fight, while Hela has a more subtle, involved role. She's always acted more as a temptress and things like that.

The difference is Hela is a role that requires better acting. Surtur will be 100% CGI and probably much briefer. All they need is a booming voice to pull it off (and post-production can help there).

Can't tell you how much I love this idea. I'd go one step further and have Hela and Death be the same person/entity. Both more efficient and grand in terms of storytelling. The Asgardians know her as Hela, because that's how she chooses to portray herself to them.

Would be a wonderful moment when, during the Avengers' assault on Thanos, Thor suddenly does a double-take because he sees someone familiar at Thanos' side...

I agree, and my intent was actually that what you just said is my ideal but leave it open enough for other similar variants as I'm not sure exactly how they will portray Thanos and Infinity War, so I can't know what I think fits best with it.

I certainly agree that it would be cool to have Thor recognize death in IW, which is certainly a nice call to the mystic side of him if he actually knows that death is an entity and just not what we call the state of not being alive.

So Odin's gunna be played by Morgan Freeman this time??
