Important update on Thor: Ragnarok:

The World Premiere of Thor: Ragnarok in one month from now: http://www.averagesocialite.com/2016/07/thor-ragnarok-premiere-la.html?m=1. This is MAJOR evidence that Disney is confident enough in the film that it will make $1 billion worldwide, especially with tickets still available now for pre-order.

This is the second earliest Marvel Studios world premiere, just underneath Captain America: Civil War by a day.
I also saw this yesterday but i wasn't sure if i should post it or not because someone twitted that fandango had until the October 16th, the final date to go and claim the tickets for the premiere so i wasn't sure how legit that date really was. Is that October 11th date legit? Can we get confirmation on the date?

Thor Ragnarok again on top with it's social media buzz.

I can't imagine TDW was talked about this much at this stage.

Meanwhile on Twitter.
Walter Simonson: Okay. This is simultaneously really neat and pretty surreal. :-)
Taika Waititi: Thank you to this legend, @WalterSimonson, for creating such iconic moments for us to copy!

Awesome pictures and it must be really nice for Simonson to see that live on in another medium.

Those comparison pictures are fantastic, Walt Simonson is the man, his Thor run was one of the best comic book runs of all time. Fact. It must be surreal and awesome for him to see so much of his great work come to life.

I really hope Kirby, Simonson and Jason Aaron get their due credits in the film.

Any predictions on when tickets might go on sale in the UK?

It gets released on 24th October here, so I hope soon since they are already on sale in the US.

Alot of juicy details i gathered from a set visit of a brazilian news outlet.
- The big Asgard set was prepared to be destroyed.
- There was a scene in which a lot of extras were entering a boat. Evacuating Asgard.
- There was also some sort of rescue mission to rescue more asgardians.
- Suposedly Heimdall was also in charge of taking care and protecting asgardians in the forest.
- The heroes were facing a “big monster” in Asgard.
- In Sakaar there’s a big square in front of the arena with a giant door leading into the arena.

Feats and power levels are something I don't think anyone behind the scenes at Marvel care about all that much. I still remember somebody last year repeatedly insisting to me that Spider-Man would defeat Captain America because it was statistically impossible for Cap to overpower him. LOL.

To the contrary, I think the people at Marvel Studios do care about power level, insofar as they broadly care about consistency in portrayal. What they *don't* care about is sticking strictly to the comics, in terms of power tiers.

Which is to say, sure, Spider-man should beat Cap every time and without much trouble. . . in the comics. Because in the comics, Cap is only peak human, and Spider-man is quite a bit beyond that. In the MCU, by contrast, Cap is *not* peak human. He's quite a bit beyond that, in the same way Spider-man is, and has been since his first movie.

True. And also in the MCU the experience is a big factor (inexperience in Spidey's case). Thor and Hulk are also a bit more down to earth.

Set visit from ET with a lot of new looks at different scenes we also never seen before. Juicy footage. The sets look beautiful and the Asgard set is a giant amazing place. So awesome to see it that close and with that really high quality. I can't wait to see the HD gifs of some of that footage.

I'm guessing this is Thor confronting Loki after he comes back to Asgard after 2 years... as a "lone gunslinger” traveling through the cosmos, solving one universe-ending peril after another."

Soon, I hope. It's kinda silly to me that we're getting the film nearly two weeks before the US and they have tickets on sale already and we don't. :loco:

Tickets are on sale here in Sweden but that's unusually early for us as we generally don't have very early ticket releases. The tickets are just for 3D viewings until much closer to the premiere though, so I'll hold off as I think 3D is more negative than positive. If word comes out that the 3D is something really special I'll catch that on a second viewing.

I already bought my 2 IMAX tickets. 3D tickets and also plain normal tickets are also available from what i can tell.

By the way i am checking the numbers of tickets being sold in IMAX for the first day of release October 27th. There are a total of... 2105 tickets available divided in 5 showings during the hole day. 375 tickets out of 2105 are already sold at this moment. 1 and a half months before release and basically 18% of the tickets are sold.

It might depend on the individual theater then but the one I go to only have early sales on 3D tickets, which I guess is smart. It doesn't matter to me when I buy my ticket so I'm not complaining about that.

While I don't live that far from Stockholm it's a bit of a hassle to go there just to see a film in IMAX so not sure I'll be doing it again until Infinity War, which is all shot in IMAX. Then again I guess parking at the mall is better than parking in central Stockholm so it might be a case where taking the car is advantageous, while I always prefer the train when visiting the central city.

I think Thor with the short hair works well in this film because he essentially becomes the Grand Masters prisoner, and the whole hair cutting symbolism works well to show he is no longer in control. However, I do relate Thor as to having Longer hair in general and so I hope they do not continue this look into future MCU movies just because it is more convenient. I feel once again his look works well for this film, but I think he needs to return to the longer hair and a more regal look like in Dark World for future MCU productions. I know Dark World was not a great film compared to some of the other MCU titles, but they nailed Thor's costume and look in my opinion.

Yeah i dont have a problem with the haircut in context of the story, it makes some sense.
I DO, however, have an issue with changing the look and iconography of a character just because an actor who makes millions to wear the wig and the cape decides its too itchy

I love hemsworth as thor, but the wig thing seems super b*tchy

If TPTB said 'wear the wig', he'd be wearing the wig. It makes a good story, but it works for the plot or he'd be Brecked out.

I think this is my most anticipated solo of the lot now. Looks like the Thor film I always wanted. I prefer Thor at his best to Cap and Iron Man at their best. We've got a great Thor but he should also have the most interesting/exotic background/environments/supporting characters and I think with Earth featuring much less here we're going to get exactly that. Plus a chance of a really top MCU villain after all the dross.

Watch out for ET tonight, apparently it will feature an interview with Cate about Ragnarok:

This week’s episodes

[FONT=&quot]WED:
Red carpet premiere of “Kingsman 2” with CHANNING TATUM and HALLE BERRY! Interview with CATE BLANCHETT on being Marvel’s first female villain for her new movie “Thor: Ragnarok!” MINDY KALING talks about the final season of “The Mindy Project!”
