Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

I love that Thor poster above, and great to hear about the box office hold. No surprise there given the reception and number of rewatches that must be going on.

What is all this? I must have missed it. :woot:

Cap 1 happened in the 1940's.
Yeah but it still didn't stop people from expecting him to reappear. He was enhanced being and we don't know where the tesseract sent him. Just don't see Ronan as someone they treated like he would eventually comeback.

Can someone find the tv spot where it shows Thor lighntning punching Hulk causing a shockwave?

Someone edited out the dialog in the teaser and dubbed Immigrant Song over it. The result is amazing. The song and the images match perfectly.

Didn't see Spidey in the opening Marvel logo.

Im seeing this on Wednesday. Is the previous film recommended before going in?

If you can skip the rough parts, I will say rewatch both Thors and both Avengers, actually. :)

Maybe... I guess it would help to know the PRECISE circumstances of some characters and how they got where they are in the story...

On the other hand this film itself does have a scene that more or less gets you up to speed early on.

For myself, if I never see the second THOR again it's no skin off my nose. I just didn't find it compelling or engaging or all that entertaining. It's quite mediocre in my view.

You will be entertained by RAGNAROK though.

^That article is... Yeah sorry. It's first paragraph let's you know the film itself doesn't come to the conclusion it's author is trying to sell. I would have preferred a lot more dramatic meat in this film but... Some of these articles feel like the authors are looking for themes and POVs that just aren't there in the least.

These layers are in the movie. It's just a matter of opening your eyes to it and creating parallels to the real world issues of the past and present. The movie may look very superficial and straight forward but there is definitely more to it if you are willing to take the hints given to you. Taika has talked about some of the things the movie addresses so there was clearly an idea to have that depth of character and storytelling.

One thing is to prefer a different approach to the movie but it is undeniable that there are several themes touched upon in this movie. Plenty of people have realized that even though the movie is fun and truly entertaining there is more to it.

Another movie that i actually remember as having a similar parallel on things, even though it was in a very different manner was Mad Max: Fury Road, it was a pretty straight forward thrill ride but it had more depth to it when you stripped back all the action, explosions, fast pace... These 2 movies have more to them than meets the eye at a very first glance.

I'm glad I rewatched Dark World right before seeing this, little things I had forgotten.

Sorry, that line of "where do you think all this gold came from?" made it extremely obvious there were themes and concepts being explored and questioned in this movie that are way deeper than the flashy visuals and the narrative comedy suggests. And it definitely seems to be by design. People just have to look past the flash. :)
