Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

I remember back in 2011 Snyder was talking a bunch of **** laughing at the idea of Thor having a film out and Superman not having one. Talking about how Superman is the grand daddy of all superheroes and how all these "new" superheroes are inferior.

I lost respect when he talked badly about Ant-Man being the "hero-of-the-week" or something like that. Sure, sure, you go ahead with Superman and show them how it's done... OH NO WAIT.
Such a ****** move.

People should learn from this, don't talk reckless if you can't back it up.

I can't believe a third Thor movie is being more beloved and respected than a film featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman. 10, 15 years ago I would've laughed at the notion of this. I applaud Kevin Feige and the entire staff at Marvel Studios. What they have created in nine years is beyond imagination.
And the stuff to come in years 10 and 11 are shaping up well.

Yeah, I remember that. It's not a comment that will age well.

I didn't love this movie, but I'm very pleased that Thor has a movie that is so well-received and a huge hit.

While I love GOTG, killing Ronan was imo a poor decision by James Gunn; he could have evolved into a really interesting villain down the road.

for real I loved the performance IMO very menacing but written poorly
THANK GOD THE RUSSOS are handling Thanos

It's going to get a lot worse if it opens lower than Thor box office wise, I'm sad actually I wanted it to keep the streak of great cbms alive. But I'm outta there now it's getting wild, Big Thor was defending the MCU honor in a good way, but I suggest y'all don't go in there for a bit lol.

Thanks bro, I'm just defending common sense really.

Well, I think he shared that mentality with a lot of producers and other people in the industry. That's one reason why only a few superheroes had been adapted for the screen. Studios only believed in the most iconic, popular characters.

But even Marvel comics didn't really see Thor as anything other than a "middle of the pack seller," as one editor put it. His solo title was canceled for a while not too long before Marvel studios started releasing movies.

So that is one thing that Marvel studios has accomplished: they have really blown the doors off the whole idea that only a handful of characters can work on the big screen, or have a broad appeal outside of a niche audience.

It's great for fans.

I think this movie's success has to be particularly sweet for Marvel studios since it redeems the two movies that were previously their only major disappointments: The Incredible Hulk and The Dark World. Bringing Thor and Hulk together was a nice touch, from that point of view.

Well now he and the rest if the industry are eating crow.

How about that

Yeah. It's pretty crazy how they've been able to crank out hit after hit. Black Panther will most likely be another one.

Infinity War could really take it to the next level. It's going to be an exciting time.

The situation is nuclear over there. I'm out lol off to the marvel films bored to fantasize about the xmen/f4 in the mcu :D

That will potentially be a new level for blockbuster films.

It may even over take Titanic as the 2nd highest grossing film of all time.

If not atleast it could atleast beat out Jurassic World for 3rd place.

Yeah, because it's a potentially new thing they're doing the scale is quite unpredictable. Things that haven't been done before can do crazy things at the box office.

Similar to the first Avengers except even bigger with the Guardians of The Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Antman, Winter Soldier, and Black Panther.

Jurassic World is 4th as The Force Awakens is 3rd.

I'd guess that it will be competing with the ones around the 1.5 billion mark (like the first Avengers) and if it exceeds that and competes with the films above 2 billion that's a big positive surprise. Well, positive for Marvel/Disney, it won't affect me much.

Plus Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine and Falcon. Maybe Sharon Carter, and then Wasp and Cap Marvel for Avengers 4 too!

I was only naming non Avengers, people with their own solo films and casual fan bases.

None of those other characters are going to effect the films box office.

They've really built a level of trust. I will go see films I would not have considered in the past, because I am sure I am going to get a quality experience. Very impressive!
