Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

I just got done with a re-watch, and was wondering.

When Hela was walking through the treasure room, she said "Fake" to the gauntlet, looked unimpressed with the cold freezy thing of the frost giants. BUT was impressed sort of, by the cube.. So is that meaning the one there was real? IF so, how would thantos get it after the planet was destroyed?
When Loki's going for the crown of Surtur, he stops and looks at the Tessaract suspiciously - we're left to believe he might have taken it. And then in the Infinity War trailer, we see him offering it up to Thanos, so yep, he took it.

Secondly, WHY, if thor is the god of thunder, DID that neck thinggy work?? Since it works by shocking you, and he ABSORBS LIGHTNING!!!
You're assuming that's regular electricity. The way it turned their veins blue I'd say it was something else entirely. They're designed to control champions as powerful as Asgardians (who Korg mentioned were notoriously tough to kill, so Thor wasn't their first) and Hulks (who clearly ended up staying on his own volition but you know he started with one of those), so I think it's safe to say those weren't mere electrical taser technology.

It doesn't say the obedience disk uses electricity, you can see the veins in his neck bulge while using it so it most likely attacks the nerves. The director of the movie Taiki Watiti says they take away your powers and leave you in a weakened state.

Also the Grandmaster is one of the Elders of The Universe I'm sure his technology is able to take down most beings.

It looks like electricity and like he gets tasered because that's the thing people know and can relate. Most people process that information as they see it. But the truth is that it's not regular electricity, it's highly advanced alien tech made to subdue any combatant no matter how strong and powerful they are. Hulk surely got exactly the same treatment but then when he became champion he got his freedom and decided he would stay there where he felt good and accepted for what he was.

Another example of how they could have dropped some lines or hints to fully explain certain things. At least to those people that really don't know much of what's going on.

Yes, the black veins coming out is a good indicator that it's not electricity as that's never been show to have that kind of effect in the MCU.

Thanks. I must have missed that little look from loki at the tesseract (cube)..

So how many times have you guys watched your Blu-ray/DVD/digital download copies so far? I think I've watched mine at least 5 times, so along with the 6 viewings in theatres, that takes my viewing count up to about 11 at least. :funny: I still haven't listed to Taika's commentary yet though, I really need to get round to that.

I heard on Collider that:

The Grandmaster moves in with Darryl.

Hmmmm....

HMMMMMMMMM

(tell us your secrets concept artists. what did they tell you happened to her?)

I had the exact same reaction! :wow: What exactly is happening in that image?? Her body seems to be cracking apart or something, with green magical energy stuff shining out from the cracks, look at her headdress, it's breaking up... But Surtur's sword seemingly hasn't even touched her yet (a sword that huge and powerful would completely crush her anyway, not cause her to merely just crack apart), so what's supposed to be happening to her? I would kill to know what the concept artist was actually told to portray there... :waa:

Stop trolling me Marvel, just tell me if we're going to see her again.

This bit of concept art paints a clearer picture of what happened to Hela. It looks like she was indeed taken out for good. Having said that, the movie itself is much more ambiguous and they clearly left the door open so she could come back in the future. I really hope Hela does come back, maybe she can be in Hel with scars, those green eyes... It would be a cool visual similar to that of Surtur in Muspelheim when he was clearly in a weakened state.

I'm not really sure where you're getting that. If anything I think that image makes it even more ambiguous than before, because she certainly seems to be going through some kind of transformation but it doesn't look like Surtur's sword has even hit her (otherwise she would be completely crushed), so what exactly is happening to her?

Let's face it, even if she did die it doesn't exactly stop Marvel from bringing her back. She surely would have gone to Hel (which we know exists in the MCU) and if she has a connection with the realm of Hel like in the comics then there's plenty of ways they can feature her again in the MCU if they want to.

Thinking of this photo again, maybe they really wanted to making her "Death" from the beginning but they changed the plot or something.

Twice. Once when I had the house to myself and could crank up the audio and then again with my wife and even then she let me crank up the audio without complaint for a change lol.

The cube was real it is the same one Thor brought back from Avengers the planets destruction even if destroyed the cube would not have destroyed the space stone

The real question should be does Hela know about the infinity stones and did she not know that the Cube contained one? if she did then the ever living fire must indeed be incredibly powerful if she considered it more powerful than the cube

plus.. loki grabbed the cube. so it was indeed not destroyed

What i am saying is that the concept art clearly suggests that she was obliterated. Her body is disintegrating from the inside and the green could explain the flash we saw when Surtur plunged the sword through her. Simple as that. There's no ambiguity in that image... she is basically imploding.

Still they didn't show any of that in the movie and she could come back. The door is open for that to happen.

Does it, though? I'd say there's a ton of ambiguity in that image. Yes, her body seems to be disintegrating (I'm not disagreeing with that), but Surtur's sword clearly hasn't even hit her yet, if it had she would be crushed into oblivion, not just merely disintegrating. So, if Surtur's sword hasn't even hit her yet, why exactly is she disintegrating? Could it be her 'soul' willingly fleeing her body before the inevitable, maybe? That would certainly jibe with how Odin seemingly died, his body also disintegrated. So that's a possibility, but I certainly wouldn't say that the image contains 'no ambiguity', or I and others wouldn't be questioning what exactly it contains.
