Tim Roth is Emil Blonsky/Abomination in The Incredible Hulk!

Not really, there are a lot of people who just didn't like the design to begin with & that's why they favor the redesign.

"I really wanted to justify [Abomination's] appearance. I really wanted to wrap my head around the original scaley-with-big-ears monster that was in the comic book, but I couldn't justify it. The guy isn't crossed with a fish; he's not crossed with a lizard. Just like the Hulk he's an über-human — his body, everything, grows out. And the way he gets injected with the serum, he's shot in the skin and the muscles, and shot inside the spine. That makes his bones grow thicker and bigger and longer, making him a super-weapon. So he's got that spine that flares out, which becomes a weapon. He’s got elbows that stick out and become these martial arts, Chinese knives — things that can slash back and forth. He's got this tongue thing and the heel-spikes… so he's a killing machine. It's pretty cool, it's funny. He's got bones sticking out, so it becomes like an exo-skeleton which he uses as armour..."
man i love this director

That's all well and good if you're a fan who's been to the Hype numerous times to read about this new movie from Day 1 and how it's a new continuity, but John and/or Jane Q. Public don't follow these sorts of things as closely (You know, not being obsessive Hulk fans and all.) so they, not being you, would think this movies was a sequel to Ang Lee's movie because that would be the only thing they'd heard of. See where I'm coming from?
Why did you put one of my posts and Kirmit's together as if we both had the same idea or opinion. Newsflash: We don't. My idea is totally different from his. My idea has no connection to Ang Lee's movie, in fact it is based on the same idea that has given us the design we have now. So if my idea will remind audiences of ang Lee's movie, then so will the current design.

It's up to the movie to distance itself from Ang Lee's, not a damn Abomination design. See where I'M coming from?

Well, I thought it had the same kind of vibe. Oh well. No need to get uptight about it.

that doesnt explain why Blonsky doesnt have a single characteristic (as far as i'm aware of) from the comic other than his name. oh yah and having a wife:whatever:

and i guarentee that if they presented a comic faithful rendition of Abomination in the trailer, everyone would think the one they chose looked stupid compared

You can't guarantee that. It is a hypothetical situation which can never happen, nothing about the outcome of said situation could be guaranteed.

What, Nadia is mentioned? Really?

I still don't think it's that big of a deal that Letterier changed the look, & some of his origins. At least we're getting a super-villain.

It's not really a big deal, but the reasoning he gave I am not satisfied with. Frankly I would prefer if he just said he changed it because he wanted to.

like i said already. he doesnt have the balls to say teh truth.
Bay said that optimus prime had flames on hes body because he f... wanted flames. its pretty simple.

Ithink its obvious he wanted to. But he wanted to because of his reasoning, so its all the same.

I agree, instead he comes up with this 'I couldnt see it working' crap.

But the reasoning is part of the thought/creative process, no? So, Bay wanted flames, his reasoning because it was cool. But he made Bumblebee a camaro instead of a W bug probably because he didnt think a teen boy would willingly choose that kind of car. Lettier (sp?) wanted a new design, his reasoning because he didnt see it fitting. If it doesnt make sense to the director i dont think he should go down that road. Ithink that is why we had a mistreated Venom, since Raimi admitted to not liking him

You know what I meant.

Yeah, sorta.

It seems you see it as a cop out or excuse to fanboys(am i right?)

No one just wants something. There's a reason for wanting to make a change. Bay wasn't born wanting to put flames on everything.

If you're satisfied without being given a reason, why can't you be satisfied when there is one? You're saying you rather have directors make changes on a whim, how does that make sense?

If you actually get why he didn't think the comic Abom would work, then it isn't crap. Leterrier's reasoning is sound and the outcome is pretty good.

I don't see why he'd bother lying though, I mean to him it's all the same at this point.
The reasoning can be frustrating from one standpoint, but it at least makes sense.
If he'd changed him to some creature with snakes for hair Medusa style, or made him all hairy and ape like, then I could get equally pissed about the whole situation.
I still don't think what he did is cool, but the new design is better then decent, its what we have, and I'll take it.

i like this ABO better then the comic version.

I don't buy his 'reasoning' which is the problem.

How so?

Personally, Ithought it was pretty reasonable even though my thought process would never even second guess it. I always figured it was some random happening/mysteries of science type of thing. Suspension of belief always led me to this conclusion, but directors and studios are jumping on the realism band wagon in post-NolanBatman genre. Sometimes i think they are being frivolous and/or nit-picky but for the most part they still make sense

LL said he couldn't see the scales and ears working so he changed it, I don't buy this, you don't just think to yourself 'That wont work so Ill change everything about the character' when making a movie. Like Sam Raimia did you try the original first and if it doesn't look right change it, Raimi had concepts of the original venom drawn up, heck he even had a full scale animatronic model built. LL just seems to of gone 'Nah dont like that, Ill change it' but he doesn't say that he says he couldn't see it working, yet he didn't even try by the sounds of things.

It seems to me that Louis Leterrier had researched each character with a lot of depth and to see what makes them so special.

When he got to the Abomination I think he just didn't like the fish look. He had a better appearance in mind which works perfectly with the film. Like he said, he tried to "wrap" his head around it and somehow include the original appearance into the movie but he just couldn't do it.

But you guys have to admit that his redesign is very, very good. Probably one of the best redesigns in movies so far...

And quite a few people like the new design better than the original. When I showed people the new design compared to the original they prefered the new one because they said the old one looks like a fish whereas the new one looks like a true monster.

thsi is a comic book movie. its about a green guy.
it would take maybe 30 minutes to change the script where they mix teh serum with some animals.
it is a movie about a green guy. it could have been done. but i dotn have a problem. i like how he looks. he is badass,
