TMOS Review & Speculation Thread (Spoilers) - Part 2

I don't think Goyer should have held off. I think he should have shaved off some of the endless action sequences and written more scenes where people actually had actual conversations.

He didn't. So now we hope he does in the sequel.

Cavill doesn't speak a ton in the film.

I agree with the actual conversations thing. You notice it a bit after you see the movie and realize no one actually talks to each other for very long except maybe Jor-El. Maybe that's why I thought his character was pretty strong.

::shrugs:: You may not have wanted it but it doesn't changed the reality that the Superman/Lois love story is the core relationship of the Superman narrative and always will be.

Cutting out the romance guts the narrative from the inside out. So while you have been thankful...that doesn't mean Goyer did a good thing.

I didn't think the kiss was uncomfortable at all. But I had to let go of my expectations in order to view it differently.

Absolutely agree. But it felt forced here, not earned or developed. either commit to it, or forget it.

I'm surprised that those reviews are making the movie look like the worst movie of the year, at worst it was just ok.

Speaking of Thor and Jane, I hope MOS's kiss isn't like theirs where it looks like Jane is trying to eat his face lol.

[BLACKOUT]I found it worse. Especially the weird noises she makes after. Was really awkward. I hope no one ever kisses me like that.[/BLACKOUT]

You'll see. It's a very close up shot (think Tom Hooper's Les Mis) so you can't look away haha

*shrug* to each his own. Didn't notice too much the first time. Second time was awful. Especially since there's literally no other sound in that scene.

Did you see it for a second time? I only saw it once, and although I liked it, I was pretty letdown. Don't know if I should give it another shot this weekend. How was your second viewing compared to your first?

First time was 3D. Atrocious. Had a headache for 6 solid hours afterward. I thought my negative perception of the movie's visuals was because I couldn't really focus much. Saw it again in 2D and had just as bad an experience with the visuals (without the physical discomfort). I will not watch it again of my own free will.

Really? Dang it man, I was expecting some epic music when they kissed. :o

There's music during the kiss but it ends when the kiss ends. It's bad use of the music. Same as the way it's used throughout, odd music choices.

After waiting 7 years for another Superman film to come along, are some of you really going to let a faceless person's opinion on the internet sway your decision of whether or not to watch the movie ? If so, that's just stupid. Make up your own mind after seeing it, but don't let anyone put you off from seeing it. You know what they say about opinions ...

But then who would pay all the professional critics:csad:

It doesn't bother me to talk about movies. It's one facet of my job. I don't see it positively or negatively, it just is. Objectivity is one of my strong suits.

And I saw it in both formats because I felt that after my first viewing experience it was my job to see give it another shot before overly criticizing it. Plus it was free, so, no biggie.

U r one of the so called critic?

I think people are kidding themselves when they say "oh no, teh critics don't matter." Bull****.

You can enjoy the movie, regardless. Don't get me wrong on that. But, let's be real, obviously the critics matter.

This movie will have a good opening, no doubt. But if it's got bad reviews and the GA doesn't mess with it, it loses its legs and just becomes another entry in a long list of superhero flicks.

I don't think WB will immediately reboot MOS (I think those concerns are wayyy premature and unnecessarily paranoid). But, if the GA's reactions are similar to critics (as I'm sure they will be to a large degree, despite what posters insist here), then expect some discussions to occur about MOS2's status.

I'm not saying it's dead in teh water, but WB may fall onto their cashcow and turn MOS2 into a Worlds Finest. It wouldn't be the worst, but I see WB becoming really really dependent on Batman. And, of course, WW and Flash would be pushed back even further along with any JL.
