Film Green Lantern needs to be Hal Jordan.

Needs to be or should be?

Hal Jordan is damaged goods at this point, time for John Stewart.

Even if he is "damaged goods," how do you get over the fact that John Stewart is a back-up Green Lantern to Hal Jordan?

Also...I wouldn't call him damaged goods just because the creative team for the film ****ed it up.

I agree, I'd go with Stewart too. Unfortunately he's busy..... Not being good enough.

The GA doesn't know what a "back-up" Green Lantern is.

The thing is, when The Green Lantern came out, I can't tell you how many students at my school reacted with the following statement:

I though the Green Lantern was black?

But we all know what this is in response too.

Well, Hulk hasn't exactly "worked" in a solo film yet.

Fair enough.

Before the first IM film, I overheard two of the guys who work in my local comic store discussing the character, and saying what a boring character he was, and were really pessimistic about the film...
Then, there's Capt. America - pretty cheesy character to be honest... but both really worked - I loved the CA film probably best of all the Marvel films, and yes I include the Avengers in that.
Point is pretty much every 'big-hitter' from DC and Marvel would make an amazing movie... if handled correctly. History has shown that Super Hero films are incredibly difficult to get right, fortunately Marvel have found a formula which has rarely failed since they introduced their Avengers universe - IM3 probably the worst, but look at the Box office that got... (my opinion) but it was pretty lame!
What DC need to do is get their own Kevin Feige - looks like Nolan's got the job, but I would have preferred Bruce Timm and Paul Dini to have a go!

Now as for Man of Steel - i'm off to see it later tonight... I've not been this excited for a movie in a looonnng time. I pay no attention to most critics, so will make up my own mind.. and will give you guys the thumbs up or thumbs down later on :cwink:

Same here

Zack directing this movie made me excited to finally see Supes kick ass on film. From what the reviewers and posters on here are saying he delivers that in spades.

That character was a total no-nonsense badass...Man I loved the Justice League Animated Series.

I agree, if you think about it he has the perfect attitude to be a "space cop".

Sequels get greenlit all the time. Doesn't guarantee they get made. Look up Superman Returns, Batman Triumphant or Green Lantern 2 for starters.

It's more of a guarantee than the studio saying nothing.
How many green lights have Marvel studios back pedaled from?

Returns may have met "expectations" but didn't really seem to be like word of mouth was on it's side as for the other two..

I suppose time will tell.

What if Batman Triumphant was actually made? Nicolas Cage as Scarecrow FTW!

Marvel Studios hasn't backpedaled from any (yet) because they haven't had cause to. But that day will come just like with every other studio. WB on the other hand has a long history of greenlighting development of sequels and then forgetting about them.

I doubt that will happen in this case though

btw, talking about green lantern movie, it was really bad. (can't finish the movie). but how come it doesn't affect Ryan Reynolds career like SR did to Brandon Routh?

saw his new movie trailer in cinema, something very similar to Man in Black... but they are Man in White. look terrible to me.

Well for while John stewart has not been been a back up lantern.

QUOTE-
For some time, Stewart occasionally filled in for him as Green Lantern when Jordan was unavailable, including some missions of the Justice League.

After Jordan gave up being Green Lantern in the 1980s, the Guardians selected Stewart for full time duty. Stewart filled that role for some years, during which time he married Katma Tui, the Green Lantern of the planet Korugar who was initially assigned to train John in the use of his ring. Kat and John served together within the Green Lantern Corps of Earth alongside Hal Jordan, Arisia, Kilowog, Salaak, and other alien Green Lanterns.

John stewart is good enough.

So just came from my screening.....O...M....G. This movie took my breath away. Zack Snyder went ALL OUT on this film; the Avengers looks so much smaller in comparison. Just plain epic. I have a few nitpicks but as a whole this movie was one BOSS of a movie. Cavill was a perfect superman/ clark, Amy Adams was an incredibly likeable Lois and their chemistry really shines. Overall, this is the 21st century superman and I love it.

Although i suspect that climax is going to cause raging fanboy debates for years to come...
